The second home alone improves on the original in every way though.

Fuck Elf and the teacher who decided to play it for us before Christmas Break. Years of hearing "you sit on a throne of lies".

Santa's Slay with Bill Goldberg sucks but I'm suprised it got no love.

    I voted it.

I guess I really am the only person who despises Home Alone.

Nice. I didn't catch it. I only threw a couple out I knew wouldn't get recognized and Rambo was just for fun because it had a Christmas tree in it.

I didn't either, though at the business end I am glad that it beat Elf. Elf is basic af and you're all basic af for voting it. I'm surprised at you Dustin. James Caan is good though.

I don't love Home Alone but it's a lot better than Elf (in-depth reviewing).

It's A Wonderful Life really should have won this, and I wonder what the % of voters that had seen it is compared to the % of voters who'd seen the top two. Not that it's particularly obscure at all but a couple of surprising people said they hadn't seen it when it came up. You definitely should correct that next year if that's the case for you instead of watching Elf for the eighth time, because as already established Elf is shit. It's A Wonderful Life is a pretty dark exploration of the American dream for the majority of its runtime before the Christmas feels good stuff.

Great work on putting the list together Shawn, thoroughly enjoyed the countdown!

Would love to see more future countdowns in this section for sure.

Dev Alahan slagging off Elf is the visual we all needed this morning.

No issue with the top two, glad Home Alone won out of the two of them though. Thanks for running this Shawn lad.

Thanks for putting this together Shawn, great job.

Elf is an abomination. Glad the definitive Christmas movie won.

All of this! Relieved that Elf didn’t end up winning this. A true Christmas miracle in the end!

Home alone is by far one of the worst Christmas films I have ever endured. The villains are so stupid they make Roscoe P Coletrain look intelligent. The best part of any of those films was John Candy and he was not in the film.

I love Joe Peschi but felt he took some serious steps down portraying that moron of a criminal.

At least with Elf you have something different in a film and it's actually funny and not something I have seen in an episode of Dukes if Hazard.

It's a wonderful life is alright. I was forced to watch it as a kid growing up and it's not something I seek out to watch the story is a different version of a Christmas Carol if you think about it (which I do like). While the actors are great I just don't find myself seeking it out at Christmas I feel the same way about every John Wayne movie ever made. I can't stand him and felt he was not that great of an actor and I was forced to watch everyone countless times as a child as well by my father, grandfathers, and uncle. I have never seen what was so great in him as a performer as I will take Lee Marvin over him.

Oh well thank you Shawn again for running this next year. I won't be so over the top.

John Wayne isn't in It's a Wonderful Life

Also the A Christmas Carol comparison, I don't think, doesn't hold up beyond the point that they are Christmas films where the protaganist is visited by a ghost/angel. The points made are very different I think. Shame you don't like it but each to their own.

Re: WC's Favorite Holiday Movies - A December Countdown!

Home Alone 1 & 2 are sentimental favorites of mine, both films hold a special place for me. That’s why I listed them so high on my list. I watched both of them with my sister when I was a kid and those movies remind me of the times I watched them with her.

Elf is a funny, delightful film but I can see why it’s not for everyone. It’s A Wonderful Life is a classic and another film I love to watch around the holidays.

Thank you for running this Shawn.

I know he is not in it but I was just equating distaste of it with that as well.

Re: WC's Favorite Holiday Movies - A December Countdown!

Second place for Elf is acceptable. And I can't complain too much with it losing to Home Alone, which is another classic not so much because it's a phenomenal, groundbreaking film, but because of the sentimental association a lot of us have with it.

Thank you Shawn for running this, I definitely can say I had a holly jolly time
