    Should WWE allow blood

    In the taping of Smackdown
    Spoiler:

    Cody Rhodes
was beaten to a bloody pulp by
    Spoiler:

    Randy Orton
. I just watched the televised show and they cut the entire beat down and the blood. Bringing back blood would have been a great move by WWE for HIAC as it is the sort of PPV where you need blood and violence. The only problem is would WWE be able to get away with any blood with the PG rating or would they have to go back to TV-14 before any blood can be shown. My question to you is, Do the WWE need to bring back blood to make HIAC feel more like a Hell in a Cell match rather than just a regular match with some steel around the ring.

I don't care. I don't watch wrestling for blood and guts. It can be an added element to further a storyline from time to time I guess. If done, it should be extremely RARE, and done with purpose.

    Re: Should WWE allow blood

The problem with blood is that their deal with Mattell (Supposedly a really sweet deal for the WWE) really restricts what they can do. Even if they wanted to allow blood, Mattell may not let them as long as the WWE wants to continue their relationship. Matches like HIAC or cage matches need blood. They're in this very barbaric environment, something is just missing when they leave unscathed. You don't need blood all the time, but there are times when it's a huge benefit.

I enjoy blood in hardcore type matches during a personal feud. I think they should bring it back because it's not like kids have never seen blood before. Hell, it's on their video games. I think it would have been great to see Triple H bleed in his match at Night of Champions.

The Smackdown show might have been a test to see the crowds reaction but he was really bleeding a lot, maybe they were going to air it but it got too bad so they cut it.

I doubt they need to gauge audience reaction. They know how the audiences react to it. More likely he bled unintentionally and they didn't stop it live but edited it for TV.

If you look at a photo from the show, it really looks like a blade job but it could be accidental. It was a lot of blood for an accident.

    Re: Should WWE allow blood

I think in the rare case of trying to really get something over it could work wonders. I thought maybe during HHH vs. Punk would have been a perfect time for them to use blood. Or during the case on Smackdown, I thought it would have really got the entire segment over. Just keep it a rarity. Maybe the occasional rare heel turn, or a really brutal beatdown, by someone who is really pissed.

As for the HIAC matches I would have cared about them needing some kind of blood but with almost 3 HIAC matches on the card, and they really don't share the meaningful heat that the match type used to have.

    Re: Should WWE allow blood

Of course they should. They are literally the only wrestling company in the world where blading is banned, which says something. Blading isn't dangerous (unless you **** up), and taking most routine bumps do more damage to the body. As far as the PG environment goes, if they don't want people to blade, they should stop running gimmick matches pushed on how violent they are supposed to be. How is someone going to buy a match being that dangerous if guys come out unscathed?
Talk about the best matches of the year here:

I live in the UK so I don't know about the American rating system but would they be allowed to air blood with a PG rating?

    Re: Should WWE allow blood

It was a total accident. Whether blood should be allowed, count me in with those who think blood should be saved for meaningful occasions, that big feud or that major angle. You can have a great dramatic match and violence without people bleeding. You don't need blood to prove a match take its toll because there are other ways to get that across. So in that regard, I don't mind there not being blood, because while it's a great addition to certain situations, it's not a necessity.

    Re: Should WWE allow blood

If they're bleeding every match like Flair or Triple H, no they shouldn't allow blood.

If it means something like the Jericho/Michaels feud in 2008, hell yeah they should.

Or the occasional hardcore match, like Wrestlemania 22.

    Re: Should WWE allow blood

Blood is good in moderation but not for shock factor like TNA likes to do (with that Flair angle a year or so ago).
And if they do bleed it should only be what it would be like if htey were really cut open, it should not be embellished.

And blood has to be PG there are a ton of PG movies that have blood or even tv shows that have blood.
As long as they dont have blood and use it for special cases were it can look like it was not on purpose I think it should be ok

    Re: Should WWE allow blood

I think blood should be allowed but only if its an accident. If it happens it happens, but blading should never happen. Plus if someone bleeds it would mean a lot more if its an accident.

    Re: Should WWE allow blood

I don't really care for blood, but it could be used for the final match of a feud to show how much the two hate each other. Otherwise, I agree with GNWwrestling.

yes its kinda crappy that the hell in a cell logo shows blood dripping off of it but they still try to cover it up.like somebody said if it happens on mistake then let it go.

Blood is good for accelerating stories which are personal. However having someone like Cena bleed heavily in a match is dead, dead wrong because it would totally upset kids, and as Cena draws 20,000 kids to shows each times then he certainly shouldn't. Upsetting the audience isn't something that is needed is it really.

For Hell in a Cell matches, there should definitely be some blood. It's not believeable and it also kills the "this is the most dangerous match in WWE history" label when there isn't any blood.

Doubt it, Cena has been drawing boat loads of kids even before WWE went PG and I don't think they all got upset when Umaga or someone beat him to a bloody pulp. If anything it would make them hate the guy that bloodied Cena, and then they'd want to see Cena get revenge and kick the guys ass.

5 year old girls would be scared to death. It happens, and it would happen.
