If they could do a shared deal with him, that'll be good for his development.

Re: AEW Presents: Fyter Fest 07/01/20 - 07/08/20 (2 Nights)

I've watched the first night and was disappointed that I successfully predicted all the matches except Jurassic Express vs MJF/Wardlow.
SHOCK! Cody wins (but looked weak and pathetic with all the help from Dustin & AA to do it)
    SHOCK! Omega wins
SHOCK! The team associated with Matt Hardy wins
The "Elite" are killing AEW with their egos as usual.
Upsides are that Jericho upstaged the crappy announcement team that AEW normally have and was super-entertaining and that the Shida / Ford match was very good (although the Ladies Title match had a commercial break in it which felt disrespectful.

I hope to be completely wrong, but for Night 2 I'm calling:
Cassidy, Archer and Young Bucks for the wins. SCU / Dark Order should be a toss-up but SCU are used as jobbers at the moment so DO to win (but I hope not).
Moxley & Cage is off so they'll need a new main event. If only the Young Bucks were on the card somewhere...

So you think Hager and Best Friends should have won?

I don't get how you could think anyone is "killing" the promotion when A) they founded it and B) the promotion is less than a year old.

Was it disrespectful to the male performers who had breaks in their matches too? Where else would you put the ad breaks?

I may end up eating these words, but anyone who thinks OC is going over literally the biggest star in the company is setting themselves up for disappointment. I'm a fan, but the guy is a comedy low-card act. He lost to PAC on the last PPV so why would he go over the to heel?

Archer winning is a sure shot, that match is basically a squash.

    .
To be fair, Jericho lay down for Fandango at a Wrestlemania so I dunno why he wouldn't lose to OC.

Jericho taking his first fall in AEW to Scorpio Sky is still a weird one to me.

Re: AEW Presents: Fyter Fest 07/01/20 - 07/08/20 (2 Nights)

The only one I kinda wish had happened was Best Friends beating Omega/Page, but for me that's more because the AEW tag division is pretty nice, and it kinda feels weird having what feels like a haphazard pairing as long-term tag champions. I also think the eventual break-up/feud between Omega/Page will be nice, so I'd enjoy pivoting to that, especially with the Young Bucks/FTR stuff going on in non-title tag team stuff. Cody definitely wasn't losing, and I assume Cassidy is winning, but it won't be a clean win.

I don't really agree that The Elite is ruining any part of AEW, but it might also be me giving them the benefit of the doubt still since 1.) We're just over a year in, 2.) Without crowds, and without a full complement of wrestlers the full time things had to change on the fly, and 3.) I still mostly enjoy the in-ring product

I don't get it either. It seemed like they wanted to make Scorpio Sky a thing but it didn't really take like AEW wanted it to.

Watched Night One. It was okay, nothing blew me away too much.

What the hell was up with Hagers attire? Looked like he was in his boxers Haha! I'm pretty sure someone in the 'crowd' actually shouted that as well at some point.

Opening tag was really fun! It felt a little too choreographed at points but that happens a lot in modern day wrestling.

Shida/Ford was good and normally I skip the female matches of All Elite Wrestling. Shida can have decent matches, but they need to do more with her- since winning the Championship it feels like she's done nothing to me.

Excited for Night Two which I think will be much better! :D

Omega/Page vs Private Party for the tag belts is on for tonight, I guess this is the replacement for Cage/Mox. Should be a good one. Really looking forward to FTR/Lucha Bros/Bucks being all in one match as well. OC/Jericho is what I'm really anticipating. Jericho has lost to Fandango before so who knows what happens here

Looking forward to watching a couple of these matches later, but I do not get bringing in the FTW title to give to Cage 1 week before his title shot. That tells me he’s got no chance of beating Moxley, cause otherwise the FTW gets made redundant in one week. But then if he loses to Mox, he already won’t look like the Baddest MFer on the planet. Idk feels like something they should of saved until after the title match to heat up Cage after he loses.

Re: AEW Presents: Fyter Fest 07/01/20 - 07/08/20 (2 Nights)

Omega/Page vs PP was whatever. I am over PP now, they are just another dime-a-dozen spotfest team, there are probably a half dozen teams on the indies who brings the same thing but slightly better.

Archer vs Bad Boy should have been a 5 min squash with a couple of death bumps, instead we got a longer, competitive match that badly exposed how mediocre Archer is. Janela tried and took some big bumps, but Archer isn't particularly exciting when controlling a match for an extended period, nor he is exciting when it comes to selling for his opponent. Unless the plan is to push Janela out the back of this (I doubt) then it was dumb to have this so competitive, because Archer did not come out looking like a killer and looked exposed as a worker too.

Taz once again killed it. I've said it 100 times already, but man I really hope they keep Taz around in this role because his carrying this whole program. Bringing the FTW title back a week ahead of a title match feels dumb, but I guess it was probably a last minute idea to try to keep the momentum up.

As someone who is the low voter on AEW's tag division, I thought the 8-man was a blast. Fast pace, cool spots, and felt like there was a good amount of beef between the sides thanks to all the shots to the guys on the apron and constant battling. Had a throwback M-Pro vibe to it. The Bucks/FTR storyline stuff was well done without over-shadowing their opponents. Thumbs up from me.

Skipped through most of the DO vs SCU tag, final minutes were decent but the finish didn't feel like any progression of the angle. The last Colt/DO tag ended the same way, felt like this should have had more to it.

I may give it a second watch later this week, on first viewing I enjoyed Jericho vs OC bit didn't think it was great. Just lacked a little something to take it over the top, wether it was blood or a big spot or a more dramatic finish or something. The finish itself I thought felt flat, but that's partly because the Judas Effect always looks weak for a KO blow. This was a good Danielson vs Delirious story, only Jericho is no Danielson and OC doesn't have the firepower of Delirious, and I also felt the Santana and Ortiz interference distracted a bit as well. Still, a good match with a good story that made OC look strong in defeat.

Re: AEW Presents: Fyter Fest 07/01/20 - 07/08/20 (2 Nights)

The 8 man tag was super fun. Exactly what AEW tags have really lacked - geninue exciting sequences that don't look awkward and out of place (look at Omega/Page v Private Party). Everything seemed to click. Pentagon looked motivated for a change, FTR looked like real machines and the Bucks had some awesome double team moves. Liked it from start to finish. Easily the match of the two shows.

Main event was good but a bit long. Orange Cassidy turning it from comedy to serious was well done. Jericho did well to help him along the way.

Re: AEW Presents: Fyter Fest 07/01/20 - 07/08/20 (2 Nights)

Why wasn't Taz this good in Aces & Eights? Dude is on fire every single week and I hope when Cage loses that he still sticks with him. I like seeing the FTW Championship but feel it's pretty redundant using it at this stage, maybe should've had him lose next week or just beat the fuck out of Mox and end up getting DQ'd or something, basically disregard the rules and just fuck Mox up and then bring it out being all "you may not have crowned Cage the winner but we all know he was the real winner" run down AEW management or some shit and boom here's the FTW Title for the real champ of AEW. I dunno.

I liked Jericho vs. Cassidy but something did feel a bit off about it, I felt like I kept seeing Jericho rather blatantly tell Cassidy what spots to do next. I did enjoy OC being able to mix comedy and seriousness for this one though.

Re: AEW Presents: Fyter Fest 07/01/20 - 07/08/20 (2 Nights)

I think that my problem with the Elite is that I find them all too bland and I've seen wrestlers-who-book-their-own-matches too many times to think that this will be any different.
Omega is by far the best is the group but even he is being somewhat formulaic in the tag matches.
There's a good-will feeling about AEW (and long may it continue) but repetitive matches and the Elite on top all the time will become stale very quickly. For example, my eldest boy watched from the start, but he's turned off saying that he doesn't find any characters worth tuning in for. I'm still sticking it out though, even if I find it frustrating.

I'm also not a fan of the FTW title either as it feels like a copy-and-paste of the TNA Title with Moose - except that Moose is doing a great job in that role and Cage is reduced to pulling "threatening" faces in the background. Is the roster and time available on AEW enough to sustain 3 male belts? I don't want them to be tempted to over saturate the company with titles (like WWE) as they become meaningless.

My issue with the ad break was that the curtain jerker played in its entirety then the Womens title match has a break in the first third. I don't like breaks in the middle of matches - especially main events - so it's a pet peeve ;-)

I guess I'm a bit old school in that I like a heel Champ with the Faces fighting through adversity to finally defeat the evil overlord and feel that a good heel elevates everything around him/her. However, all the belts in AEW are held by Faces (2 out 4 by the Elite) and there are no decent bad guys except Jericho - who is the best thing on the show by a mile. You then have the Inner Circle being crushed at every turn and they hardly look like a credible threat :-(
Oh...and Britt Baker. Her heel turn is entertaining too...the sooner she's with the belt, the better.

I think my AEW grade at the moment is a C+. Lots of exciting potential but needs to improve. Could be the best (not the biggest unfortunately) in the business if handled right.

What matches in AEW are repetitive?

I wouldn't class the FTW as an actual championship that's gonna be defended so I wouldn't therefore class it as the third male title.

Dear Lord, don't show that kid WWE then if he wants compelling characters that stand out from one another.

And yeah, the FTW Title isn't a sanctioned belt - Tazz even said so in his promo.

Lmao I really would love to hear his take on WWE, and if him and his kid think WWE matches aren't the definition of repetitive, or if they think it's filled with compelling and interesting characters.

Haven't had time for the whole show this week so quickly checked out the 8-man tag. Great match, that Fenix flip piledriver was fucking mental.

Praxx, if you're not a fan of the Elite then I'd recommend another promotion. Kudos for giving it a shot, but it is All ELITE Wrestling after all.
