Dump and Dumper was lots of fun.

Ace Ventura 2 was so much better than the first one imo. More goofy and thus more funny

I still quote Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls all the time.

Dumb and Dumber is fun, can't remember if I've ever seen Me, Myself and Irene.

Re: WC's Fave Five Jim Carrey Movies~!

I enjoyed both Ace Ventura movies as a kid and still enjoy them as an adult, but as a kid I watched the sequel way more than the first film so it holds it a more special place in my heart hence my voting it over the first film.

Dumb & Dumber is and always will be my go to silly, slapstick humor Jim Carrey movie. I still use quotes from the movie, and it’s easily my favorite Jim Carrey movie.

The thing I love about Dumb And Dumber, is the story that Clint Eastwood thought the poop/bathroom scene was the funniest thing ever and a similar thing had happened to him. Also, the blind kid ending up with the dead bird with his head taped on. Solid stuff.

Re: WC's Fave Five Jim Carrey Movies~!

Shows what I know about Ace Ventura I always fancied the first one a lot more, even as a kid, but at least When Nature Calls doesn't get super transphobic and has that iconic rhino scene.

Dumb and Dumber is a pretty good goofball comedy, again not one I revisit much but probably one of the better watches from this time period.

I can still sit down and laugh at When nature calls. The rest I don't find as funny as that one and I still quote it daily especially where I work.

I haven't seen The Number 23 since it came out, but I distinctly remember laughing through the whole thing because of how seriously it took itself. I'll probably give it another re-watch now that this list has reminded me of its existence.

Eternal Sunshine is pretty great, and I'm glad to see a lot of other people think so as well. Bruce Almighty and The Mask don't do much for me, but I'll admit that the latter does have the great moment where the dog ends up with the mask.

Eternal Sunshine is a beautiful movie that portrays the feeling of a doomed relationship better than anything I've ever seen. Carrey is brilliant, and of course Kate Winslet is phenomenal too.

Re: WC's Fave Five Jim Carrey Movies~!

Boy there is a lot to unpack here.

Bruce Almighty is the last passable "Jim Carrey being Jim Carrey" movie off the top of my head. It came well after the initial boom and was a nice return to form with a fun concept. It's very watchable if not outright amazing, and had a shot at my list.

The Number 23... boy how did that make this list at all? I was about 17 or 18 when it came out and was excited to see Carrey tackle some more serious fare but even with my film palette not particularly developed yet I could tell it was pretty off the mark. Miss me on anything to do with that movie.

Eternal Sunshine, thankfully placing ahead of that, is all things Shock said and more. It is a beautiful, heartbreaking, funny, and inventive film, with one of Jim's better performances though Kate Winslet runs a few circles around him, goddess that she is. No question in my mind it was number two for this list, and I'm happy it made it into the top five if not a bit disappointed it's only just in there.

The Mask is the quintessential Carrey film, a conceit made for him that no one else would be able to rise up to. As a film I feel the same way I do about Bruce Almighty, watchable if nothing else. A lot of the wackiness doesn't do it for me now, but I can put this one on and not worry, and man was Cameron Diaz on form back then.

It would appear Carrey's terrific run in the back half of the 90's is gonna rule this list at the top which I am a-okay with. Just a matter of which movie ends up where but I'm feeling pretty good about number one.

I think the argument about him being more than a comedy actor was settled several years before, but he's still excellent in ESOTSM.

I’ve been meaning to rewatch Eternal Sunshine, it’s been a minute since I last saw it. I do love The Mask, one of my favorite 90s Jim comedies.

Bruce Almighty missed out on my list, but I think Steve Carrell stole the show in it imo.

Re: WC's Fave Five Jim Carrey Movies~!

I think I feel less guilty about voting for Sonic now.

One negative to some of these films is Carrey isn't the best thing about them. Even ESOTSM, great as it is, dies without Kate Winslet as that lead female. As Jimmy said, in Bruce Almighty he's upstaged by Steve Carell. For the Mask and Sonic - both goofy films I voted for - Carrey is the best part of the film.

Re: WC's Fave Five Jim Carrey Movies~!

I should probably rewatch Eternal Sunshine, because I just don’t remember it so fondly as everyone else.

Bruce is good, but I don’t love it.

I know the Number 23 is a bad movie. But yet I still like it a lot anyway. Jim just plays it in a way that I find very entertaining.

I am 100% bias with the Mask. It’s the first Jim movie I ever saw, and I watched it constantly as a kid. I pretty much know the whole movie by heart. I love it, and I think it still holds up.

Re: WC's Fave Five Jim Carrey Movies~!

    Time to end this

    Spoiler:

    3. - Man on the Moon - 230 points (Fuji Vice #1, Postman Dave #1, BoJack Horseman #2, RED #2, OMB #3, Wolf Beast #4)

    Spoiler:

    2. - Liar Liar - 300 points (Man #1, Jimmy King #2, BoJack Horseman #3, RED #3, Sully #3, Ed #3, Silk #3, BlackTiger #4, Thundercat #4, Wolf Beast #5, Fuji Vice #5)

    Spoiler:

    1. - The Truman Show - 410 points (BoJack Horseman #1, RED #1, Sully #1, Ed #1, Silk #1, Shock #2, Postman Dave #2, Wolf Beast #3, BlackTiger #3, Wang Chung #4)

    Spoiler:

That is a freakin' awesome top three in my eyes. I love Man on the Moon and I actually thought that movie wouldn't get that much love, so thanks to everyone who voted for it. ...and The Truman Show, I mean... it's a masterpiece. For me personally, I'm pretty sure I would put it in my Fave Five Films of all times... and Jim Carrey was such a perfect fit for the role. They found the perfect balance between silly comedy and drama, something that I always hold dear to my heart. Liar Liar is also an amazing, well-deserved runner up, being voted for in 11 of the 15 sent in lists.

    Thank you all for participating!

Wasn't expecting Liar Liar to receive so much love. Good for all of you fine folks that voted for it along with me. A great film for a Sunday evening.

Man on the Moon is fantastic. I am glad it ranked that high.

The Truman Show is amazing as well.

Re: WC's Fave Five Jim Carrey Movies~!

God damn I am so happy about how this went. As previously mentioned, The Truman Show is a top five all-time film for me. I love it from top to bottom, it's so engrossing, the performances are stellar, the conceit is not only inventive but also prescient, it's a perfect film as far as I'm concerned. Can't take a thing away from it.

Liar Liar is the best bonkers Carrey movie. He takes a bog-standard comedy script and elevates it with his physical humor and while some of the jokes haven't aged great, it's mostly still watchable today without cringing too much. Man on the Moon I saw far too long ago to vote for it in good conscience but I remember it being a stellar film and a deserved third place here, even if I'd rather Eternal Sunshine snuck in there instead. Great job everyone.

Yeah, this list ended up great. Never seen Man on the Moon personally but will definitely look to check it out now.

I didn't vote for Liar Liar but I'm glad it got a lot of love. As I said, I hated it as a kid, but when rewatching as an adult it's an absolute gem.

Silk pretty much summed everything up about the Truman Show. A classic film.
