Jones just needs to get out of his comfort zone and go to HW already. No interest in seeing him lazily UD someone he could beat easily if he wanted.

Thiago was getting him a bit in that fight.

But youre right, he is staying comfortable. Move up and let these young guys battle it out for the crown for a bit. And if one of them truly stands out at LHW, in like 2 years Jon could come back down to try and dethrone the new LHW kingpin.

True, but that was noticeably a Jones that was half assing it and doing just enough to get a UD win. He knows he doesn't have to give 100% to beat these former MW's and whats left at LHW. Its too comfortable and too easy for him at 205 though, I dont see him going up anytime soon at all.

And that is exactly why I get less hyped when his fights come up. There are more entertaining champions to watch who will actually defend against their legit contenders.

I still expect another uneventful 50-45 for Jones but there's enough potential for an upset here. Reyes is a pretty crafty striker, not just a mindless power puncher and Jones is at that point where he's all about his Legacy and looking past LHW towards HW. Or rather in Jones case talking about going to HW but more than likely never actually doing it. But Champs tend to get knocked out when they get like this, when they just overlook the opponent and make it all about their Legacy and future.

Re: UFC 247 February 8th - Jones vs Reyes

I was backing my boy Jones and I'm glad he won- but I was super impressed with Reyes.

Argument to say he won the first 3 rounds and then seemed to tire in the last two and that's where Jones really started to take control.

I think Jon was correct in his assessment. I think the take-downs likely won him the match though they were pretty minimal in terms of damage and Reyes defended them well.

A real black eye for the sport there. Something has to be done about how poor the judging (and refereeing) is in MMA. Joe Rogan was commenting on air about a judge not even watching one of the fights, what the hell is that?

Reyes won that fight, Jones was dethroned. But we've seen in the past that Commissions, USADA and the like look after Jones. Even if you think Jon won, that 49-46 score from one judge is only explainable by corruption, or being clueless. Either way that needs to be addressed.

On a more positive note. Valentina is a monster. Cyborg and Nunes have more power but to me Valentina is more terrifying with performances like this where just outclasses the other girl by such a huge margin. The gulf in skill levels was unreal. Never say never, but its hard to see her ever losing at 125.
