Best Workers of the Late 2010s Project - RESULTS COUNTDOWN!

    So here we are.

2019 is over, the 2010s are over, and 2020 here we fucking go. Australia is on fire, Iran are threatening war, and Post Malone has a new face tattoo - it's a new world people.

As we enter a decade sure to be filled with more Kenny Omega Undertale references and 20 minute Seth thespian monologues, lets look back at who were the best workers of the last era. 2015 to 2020 saw many big changes in the wrestling industry, often at a rapid pace. New Japan became popular to international eyes, several major acts went All In, EVOLVE became an NXT for NXT, and Womens wrestling became an actual thing not to be embarrassed about. We have access to more wrestling now, with that access being quicker, cheaper and easier. Regardless of your tastes in wrestling, finding what you like it only a few clicks away, and those tastes across the spectrum are broad and varied.

First of all a thanks to those who participated, below who submitted ballots of Top 50 apart from where noted:

    MC 16
Jon Snow - Top 46 (your guess is as good as mine)
    Zero
    indyfan - Top 30
    The EC
    Slick Mitch
    Shock
    Ed
    and myself

Points are given in line with their ranking on a ballot - for example #1 on a ballot of 50 gets 50 points, but a #1 on a ballot of 40 would get 40 points.

In event of a tie in points, the worker with the highest number of different votes wins. In the event they are still tied then, the worker who places the highest on any ballot wins.

In total 101 workers were voted for, so I shall try to keep the countdown brisk for the low hanging fruit.

    So here we are...

9 ballots isn't too bad as I was fearing it would be even less. Shame Nicky isn't around anymore as he'd of been all over this.

I think I'll be more interested in the full list and where specific wrestlers pop up rather than 'who's number #1' because it feels a little inevitable to me who is going to end up the ultimate winner (Styles is my prediction). Also fascinated in learning who I was the high voter on. I look forward to defending my placings and hope people are up for defending theirs

Love the write ups and recomended matches.

Between Zayn, Low Ki and a Briscoe, that's three guys that if we did this a few years ago they'd be waaaaay up the list.

Daniel Makabe was someone who I hadn't caught much of when I started the list but saw enough of him (funnily through watching other guys like Thatcher) to put him low on the list.

I probably should have put Ishimori on my list, he deserves it and has improved so much from the first time I saw him years and years prior. Dan is a great guy, but just hasn't been prevalent enough to go after. I hope he rectifies that coming soon and makes wrestling a full time gig for him. Nobody else really strikes me as anything special in terms of their resume though besides Shayna and Average Adam, I at least enjoy them all to varying degrees.

Re: Best Workers of the Late 2010s Project - RESULTS COUNTDOWN!

Average Adam has put out many highly above average matches though. He oozes charisma too!!!

but i actually agree on his destroyer. its horrible.

i use to be kind of down on Mark Briscoe but everything he does, he does extremely well. Hes the perfect tag partner. He is elevated a tad by his brother but he has had good single matches as well.

    notably versus PCO

Re: Best Workers of the Late 2010s Project - RESULTS COUNTDOWN!

Well, I did not expect Shock to be the sole voter on Daniel Makabe but I guess that's why we do the nominations thread so people have a chance to check new wrestlers out.

Surprised no-one I've voted for has shown up yet, clearly I have excellent taste Probably the closest I came to having any of these was Eddie Kingston (love him, but too many gaps in the last 5 years), Shayna (first reign landed well but 2nd hasn't, plus didn't really see her before NXT run) and Becky (solid hand for 3 years but hardly did anything interesting, exploded in 2018 and then went back to being solid but maybe exposed some flaws in her game).

Starting to wonder what's going on with Nick Jackson because I don't understand someone voting for one and not the other.

Nick Jackson is by far the better of the two imo but there isn't much in the way of matches to really separate the two more than one place

Since AEW Dynamite started I’ve definitely noticed that Nick is the more impressive of the two. At least from an athletic sense. The Fenix spotfest showcase was awesome.

Glad Makabe got a vote though he was one of the first left on the cutting room floor for me.

Tried to take a quote from the Jericho thread but the guy who made the OP wrote 5 paragraphs and I couldn't find a single line that talked about anything in-ring.

Also, is Becky cross-eyed? Never noticed it until that pic.

I couldn't resist the temptation to vote for LA PARK in 2019 on a best worker list.

Nick is way better than Matt. However Matt seems to have better mannerisms.

I think me never getting around to watching more 2015-16 non CMLL lucha hurt because La Park would just make the list if I had a little more to work with. Consider him my 51st pick.

Nick's the more athletically gifted, but usually it's Matt who does the things that raise some of their matches to being more than spotfests.

And yes Steve, Becky is slightly crossed eyed and you'll notice it a lot more now you've first realised it.

I can't wait for the discussion over which Uso is better too.

I couldn't tell you which of the two Young Bucks is better than the other (maybe I just don't pay enough attention). I will say that the two were pretty close to the tail end of my list. I'm not a super fan of them, but they've done enough good work and they're the best at what it is they do.

Hurts that he didn't really break out until 2018 when Dragon Gate gave him a bigger platform to get more exposure.
