Re: Bellator 238 - Budd vs Cyborg

I suppose Budd is as interesting as it can get at 145 with Cyborg so i'll take it. I still think Cyborg will dismantle her but Nunes' success might help Budd here.

Man, Pico as 4-3 is depressing. Dude has all the tools to be a top fighter but just is super chinny and struggles with striking defense. It's over for him if he loses this. But at 23, he could probably do a Lawler type resurgence later.

The Pico fight is the one I'm looking forward to here. He's got to win this fight if he's ever going to come close to living up to the his potential. As great as his hands are, he's got a habit of getting caught so he's probably best off just using his wrestling.

The Cyborg fight is kinda meh, its not the same now that Nunes cracked her, and it feels like she should beat Budd rather easily ultimately but then there's really nothing left for her out there except the Nunes rematch but Dana gonna Dana and make the UFC a shitty place to be for some fighters.

Pico's only 23 so there's still time but the issue is that MMA is developing into a sport where all the top guys are good everywhere. He's just so hittable in the same sense Doo Ho Choi is - ridiculously good offensively but shocking defensively.

I think Cyborg will be happier outwith UFC. Obviously she needs the UFC more than they need her but at the end of the day, it's not like she was getting great fights either. Bunch of people moving up etc. It's just not a great weight class. She should be a freakshow fighter instead. It'll be nuts if Budd wins though.

Yeah Pico is one of those guys who looks so good offensively, his hands are so good, but he just doesn't have the defence and he's got to address that or he'll keep getting caught.

145 for the Women is just such an awkward division. Its really only there because of Cyborg, and she's spent most of her career fighting fat 135ers. Thats all the UFC did, was just keep pairing her up with fat 135ers who needed the money. The Megan Anderson fight was really the only other fight out there but Meg kept choking and/or getting exposed.

Re: Bellator 238 January 25th - Budd vs Cyborg

This was a pretty damn good card. Pico looked really good, and fought a lot smarter than he has recently. Raymond Daniels was all kinds of fun, just keep putting in their with guys like this and let Daniels incredible and flashy kickboxing talent shine. That Pettis win was pretty nasty as well. Caldwell looked great and him vs AJ McKee could be a mental fight.

And Cyborg vs Budd was good. It wasn't a complete domination, it was a fight and for the first time a while (ignoring Nunes) it felt like a real fight for Cyborg, felt like she was actually in there with someone who belonged in there, in there with a real 145er and a quality 145er as well. That win meant so much too Cris as well, she gets so much shit from Dana and the 'UFC or nothing' crowd, and you can tell she's happy to be in Bellator and winning that Title mattered.
