It's gotta be Nolan Arenado for me. Not only is he such a consistently amazing hitter, but he might be one of the best fielding third baseman of the decade.

Mike Trout has literally been elite every season he's played a full season. He was pretty bad in 2011 and still was close to leave average in like 40 games.

He's already accumulated more WAR (72.5) in his relatively brief career than many Hall of Famers. Gerrit Cole has accumulated roughly half his total career WAR (24) in the last two seasons. Cole is older and has put up 1/3 the WAR Trout has.

Including the fact that position players are eminently more valuable than pitchers and there's really no debate as to Trout being the better player.

In fact I'll go as far to say that there is no other correct answer to the question of who is the BEST. In terms of raw production and ability Mike Trout is unequivocally the best.

We are witnessing potentially the greatest player to ever play baseball.

Gerrit Cole has had three elite seasons and it can still be argued he isn't even the best pitcher in baseball right now.

The sad thing is, because the Angels are so inept people are going to discredit Trout's greatness through no fault of his own because the team around him isn't successful.
