You're misjudging what people are saying, clearly. Because people's complaints aren't that "it's simple". Really don't get how you got simple from people feeling insulted. More that it's dumb, inconsistent and they expect you to forget anything that happened and move in total opposite directions at random.

Anyway, AEW's booking is okay. They do some things well, try and develop feuds past the basic narrative. It's not perfect.

    Is AEW's booking okay?

    Let's talk MJF/Cody and the SCU/Lucha Bros.

Enlighten me on the complexity of WWE's booking that I'm not seeing then?

Okay lets talk? Is the problem that they're taking a different approach? People being involved in multiple things at once and don't need continuation week in and week out making it difficult for people? *shrug*

I've already expanded on what I mean by it not being simple. It's confusing and nonsensical which is the opposite of simple. It's really a non issue by this point.

You said their booking is anything but simple, suggesting that their booking is, to some capacity, thought invoking and complex. You didn't expand on what you meant by it not being simple, you simply alluded to the idea that it is dumb and inconsistent (which it also is). For years we had the same main event formula of rematches, repeat matches, etc. I would call that simple. Running the same angles where either a) or b) happens (contract signings are a great example of this), obvious interruptions, and so much more are a perfect example of simple booking. You know what a breath of fresh air that not every AEW promo was met with some sort of cue theme music of feuding wrestler? It was so nice to have someone come to the ring, cut a promo, and that be the end of it. It's so rare that it helped build so much more anticipation towards an encounter than it naturally should. Is simplicity always bad? No, not at all. However, when met with complacency, it's terrible.

There's being different and there's essential guidelines for storylines. It would have been different if there was some the in to MJF. And yes, there's a reason why you CAN'T do what they did and that's because it takes the spotlight and focus off such a personal feud. It's not that it needs to be simple. It just needs to tell a story in the proper manner. Rule #1"in writing - Don't introduce unnecessary characters when it's not needed.

Explain to me who got over in that segment. No one knew who they were, Cody got beat down, and MJF looks like he couldn't care less about this feud. So what did it accomplish?
