Last year's PPVs were so good. Hard To Kill was awesome. The direction they've taken lately was basically the worst possible way they could have gone. They're going extra hard into the ECW/Lucha Underground elements of their product which is not a good use of talents like Blanchard, Elgin, Swann, TJP, The North, etc who are the best wrestlers they have.

Feels like Impact have taken a noticeable drop down in quality recently. Far too much cartoony stuff. And while Moose's TNA World Title is basically just an interim Title its still a dumb move. Does anyone outside of Impact management like Moose? He's pretty much universally disliked for being so damn unremarkable in every way yet they keep pushing him. The stubbornness of Wrestling promoters to get their guy 'over' / on top no matter what just keeps getting worse.

I hate Moose so much I wanted Shamrock to beat him last year. And that's saying something. He's an average wrestler and his promos are awful. I guess TNA management value 'the look'.

I'll pile on and add that I also think Moose isn't anywhere near a main event talent. The guy has plenty of good tools, but his talking ability makes Jack Swagger looks like Jake Roberts by comparison. He shouldn't be working a flashy gimmick. If anything, he needs to be a man of few words who just uses his size and athleticism to dominate. Yeah, the trope is arguably overdone, but it only makes sense when you consider his attributes.

Used to hate Moose, back when he was being pushed as the top good guy of the company, but I was kinda into when he first went heel and was hanging with Aries. All the flashy coats and what not.

Back to not being a huge fan but being the arrogant "champion" while we wait for Tessa to come back seems ok. Looking at the impact roster it could have been a lot worse...coulda been Hernandez.

Re: Impact Wrestling on AXS TV Discussion

I’ve been back and forth with Moose. I think he’s good enough in the ring that he can have good matches with smaller wrestlers. I also like his “Moose” taunt thing with the crowd. It gets over. I also like how they produce his entrance like he’s a main eventer. Although they could do that for anyone that they want, and that kind of makes me mad that they don’t do it for the right people. Moose now talks too much and he isn’t good on the mic, and his wrestling style as a heel is boring. He’s way funner as a babyface powerhouse who does his spots and goes home.

I also agree with the sentiment that they have been relying too much lately on ridiculous overtop garbage for the Knockouts and bad wrestling. Get Hernandez out of here. Get these ECW guys outta there. Does anybody want to see Johnny Swinger on their TV? I was all for the Tessa experiment but I think that they need to by firing on all cylinders for people to give it leeway.

I like The North and Willie Mack. Willie Mack is a star. All they gotta do is let him be a star.

Here goes Impact. I'll try to write up a full review of it as it goes on.

Well, Deonna Purrazzo has found her way to Impact. I have limited exposure to her, so I can't really say I'm excited by the signing or anything like that but good on Impact for continuing to give people work and it never hurts to have more Knockouts in the mix. I hope she solidifies herself with the company and the investment pays off.

That's a great pickup by Impact that seems to be making an effort to restock their womens division.

Agreed. But if they get her involved in supernatural bullshit, I won't be a happy man.

So I haven't really kept up with the company, can someone fill me in on what's happening with the World Title scene? Is Moose the champion, or Tessa? Are there two world title belts? If so, why lol

Okay, so remember before everything kicked off Impact were gonna do a TNA throwback show? In the lead up, Moose was feuding with various ex-TNA which would have obviously led tp something at the show.

Show got cancelled as a result of shutdowns, and Tessa is stuck in Mexico until restrictions are lifted. So at the Rebellion special, Moose brought back the "TNA" World Title (which no one in the company is acknowledging as legit) and declaring himself the real world champ whilst Tessa is stuck.

So it's just a bit of fun to fill in time and set up an angle for Tessa once she's able to return.

That actually sounds pretty fun Haha! Creative way of getting around Tessa being stuck in Mexico.

The opening to Impact a couple of weeks ago was some creative stuff if you like the sound of what they've done.

    ---

I thought Trey Vs Elgin in this week's main event was really good. The most serious I've seen Trey wrestle in a while.

I really wasn't a fan of the Deaners/North cinematic match, but what ya gonna do when the tag champs are also stuck outside the country.

So... anyone else think we saw the last of the Rascalz? :/ Wentz probably took out Trey to try and get the #1 contendership for himself.

Also, looks like IMPACT is making moves. Check out the article.

That would be great for Impact. I really respect Callis and D'Amore's approach to running the company so far. Been slow and steady thus far. Seems like maybe they were picking their spots and now they have a great opportunity to try to pick up a few names that will be very beneficial to them. I won't say I'm super thrilled with all the names mentioned, and I wouldn't want them all to be signed as regulars, but EY, EC3 and Spud coming back could be very helpful.

Looking at the last two weeks reports, I'd say it's more a set-up for Trey vs. Moose. Moose threatened the Rascalz last week after not taking his title seriously. Then this week, Ace Austin was far more receptive to challenging for the Impact title instead of the World Title. Besides, the Rascalz already have Tag Title number 1 contender status, Wentz getting jealous and wanting the World Title for himself feels the opposite of the laid back gimmick of the trio.

Re: Impact Wrestling on AXS TV Discussion

On the matter of the closing video. It works as a good tease because they have footage of so many of those releases, but hyping that many people comes off more like all they've signed is the guy drinking the whisky so it's one signing and this is them just getting some hype online. I don't believe for a minute that they've got Spud (still with WWE probably), Anderson and Gallows (would hold out for AEW/NJPW) or Rusev (was the biggest star released so doubt he'd go straight to Impact). I also don't believe it's a bunch of these people all coming in at the same time because Impact's roster is deceptively big so you don't need to bring in that many people, especially during a pandemic where Impact's revenue has been down. I'd be really disappointed if they flooded their roster with a bunch of Ex-WWE jobbers when the biggest strength of Impact atm is the talent they've developed on their own.

But good to know we do have Slammiversary coming up to have some focus for the TV episodes.

As for this week's episode, really weak first hour with the KO's tag match featuring Susie, Ryan Vs Crazzy Steve with Jake Crist turning on his brother (beats me) and Rohit beating Chase Stevens (who looks like mini-Lance Archer) and then setting up a program with Rhino. However, the second hour had two very good matches with the Rascalz/TJP Bahh tag match and Wentz/Ace in the main event. I'm not crazy about holding a tournament and then Wentz just replaces Trey in the finals without even having a match, lets be real the tournaments been full of chops and changes throughout, but it does offer some good storyline directions. Trey last week and Wentz this week, the Rascals are really stepping up atm and injecting some emotion and depth into their matches.

    PS, Johnny Swinger rules daddy.

Re: Impact Wrestling on AXS TV Discussion

Another solid IMPACT show tonight. I could get used to the Knockouts main eventing the show tbh. Looks like we have at least four teams for the Knockouts Tag Team Titles, which I'm guessing will debut at Slammiversary.

I like how IMPACT is building up their midcard. Rohit/Rhino I think should be very good for both men. Rhino really teasing Heath coming over? While I like the midcard being built up, give me more of the tag team division and the X-Division please.

Slammiversary ending up being a 5-way dance for the World Title? I dig it.

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Jordynne Grace should be awesome. As with any debut in the pandemic era, it would've been better with a crowd but she accomplished what she needed to do. Let's get it going.

Team Canada? Makes me instantly think of EY coming back. EY leading a stable? I can see that tbh as oVe is no more.

Tough times don't last, tough people do.

I like the Great Gatsby style branding for Deonna. I will reiterate, I haven't seen a whole lot of her, but it's cool to have her on board and she makes a good next challenge for Jordynne, because most of the KOs, other than Kylie Rae, are a bit stale at the moment.

I love the sound of that five way for Slammiversary. I could see this being Elgin's crowning moment.
