The striking in the main event was comical. Great finish by Maia, Askren is a sitting duck off his back. Scored Ray's fight a draw but I will take the win. Gane is a beast.

Its always bad when two grapplers try and have a kickboxing match, when I can go watch Verhoeven v Hari why would I want to watch two guys who look like they've never sparred a day in their life striking?

Askren has been such a dud in the UFC though, got very, very lucky against Robbie who was wrecking him prior to that, slaughtered my Jorge and now choked out by Maia. Looks even worse when Rogan and co. we're bigging this guy up as someone who could run through the UFC WW division.

I didn't think Maia was extremely bad or anything - just really basic in what he was doing. It's just hilarious that Askren's only way to counter was to throw looping uppercuts constantly. I think it says alot that Askren wasn't entirely set on going for the takedown. Either thought he could do some work or he was scared. Who wouldn't be scared of Maia's ground game though? It's frightening how easy he found sweeping Askren.

Yeah, Askren has not looked too good in the UFC. Shame he peaked way before he ever got in.
