It was also hilarious that he was cowering in the corner before The Fiend had actually turned his attention to him. Why even get back in the ring?

    NINE NINE!

Also Sayer, there's ways to sell The Fiend as terrifying, however, Seth screaming like a little bitch is not one of those ways.

I support anything that can potentially ruin Seth Rollins and cause WWE to stop pretending this talentless hack should be anywhere near the Main Event.

But that said that was just really, really stupid. Its your Babyface World Champ and he's sitting in the corner screaming in fear like that. This is the guy that beat Brock twice, and no sold everything he did and geeked him out last time, the guy who just beat Braun clean yet he's nearly wet your pants in fear terrified of Bray in a mask. Whats so scary about Bray? WWE forgot to do the part of the story where they actually make Bray scary.

But at least its only Rollins being ruined, and not someone actually worthwhile.

Oh man, it's even worse than I though. Not only is Seth being a scared little coward in the corner, Braun TWICE is seen wanting to take the fight to Bray, just to make Seth look that little bit weaker.

5 way was fun. Rey still so good, and the crowd were well and truly behind him there. Almost a shame that his title match isn't going to be in California but that would just lead to Seth getting boo'd I think.

And then consider that after the show went off the air, Seth Rollins hit The Fiend with 4 or 5 Stomps before the lights went off and The Fiend disappeared.

So what the fuck is that all about? They really shit the bed with this segment.

I don't see a scenario where Bray loses at Hell in a Cell at this point. A Fiend Championship reign is an interesting way to go and if the creative doesn't screw it up it could lead to something great.

Rollins should definitely NOT go over here. Plus, there is a decent chance we get The Beast vs. The Fiend at Survivor Series so yay!

The problem is it screams of the typical WWE overcome the odds Babyface tripe.

Rollins is terrified of Bray with a clown mask on for some reason, but he'll conquer his fears and defeat The Fiend when they actually face off. Its WWE Babyface booking 101; shit all over the Heel and make the unlikable superhero Babyface even more unlikable.

Re: WWE Monday Night Raw Live Discussion - September 23, 2019

Rollins being scared of The Fiend is good. Great, even. For scary characters, you need people in-universe to sell the fear if you want it taken seriously as a spookums act. And being afraid adds a more human, and sympathetic element, to Seth. A human robot who treats something presented as horrific with the same emotional reaction as they do to a bowl of cornflakes in the morning is okay for comedic effect, not so much when you want the horrifying thing to be understood as horrifying. The silent badass who doesn't react to anything and just mows over whoever they're facing is a terribad character act that gets suggested far too often, so for the top guy on the show to treat The Fiend with fear is a great thing that puts over how scary Fiend is, whilst presenting Seth as a more human character.

That being said, the shrieking is a bit much. Seth was selling it perfectly before that, with hesitation to acknowledge The Fiend, nerves and jitteryness, and trying to put on a brave face. That's great! That's an expansion of his character! But the screaming in a corner is a bit... Over the top.

The bigger criticism of Cena was never reacting to anything. Hype a match as meaning the world to you, lose, shrug it off... But yeah, being stoic in he face of everything was something we all bitched about too.

    Regardless....

No one is saying it was wrong or illogical or shitty writing to have him react. I agree with EC that they haven't really made The Fiend's assaults worthy of an outright fearful reaction by that's typical. Rollins having a reaction sells the threat. Its not hard to understand why they have him react. Again, its HOW he reacts. Cowering in fear is one thing. Screaming in fear is absurdist.

I'd be curious if anyone else can think of or find examples of a top babyface screaming in fear at something. Not screaming in pain at something, but just in fear.

People screamed AND ran from Kane when he first unmasked, iirc. Then again, he did tombstone Linda McMahon on the stage.

Rollins is the worst babyface world champ we've been subjected to in years. I like him as a heel and I like him as part of a face tag team. Face main event he's not for me at all. They're doing well with The Fiend thing but I thought Rollins reaction was comical. They've gotta pull the trigger on The Fiend at HIAC for this to work out imo

I'm almost certain Rey will have done it in one of his two disastrous World Title reigns.
