Raw WWE Monday Night Raw Live Discussion - September 9, 2019

    Monday Night Raw Preview
    September 9, 2019

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin to moderate Universal Championship contract signing between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman

One week after the Universal Title contract signing between Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman for WWE Clash of Champions ended in chaos thanks to The O.C., WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin returns to his old stomping grounds, Madison Square Garden, to preside over this anticipated contract signing … and raise some hell if he needs to.

After United States Champion AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson spoiled Rollins and Strowman’s contract signing, Austin took to Twitter, announcing that he would be making sure the contract signing goes down like it’s supposed to next week, and that’s the bottom line.

Remembering that Rollins received Austin’s seal of approval on Raw last month, Strowman seems wary of the WWE Hall of Famer’s return, stating plainly that if Austin steps out of line with The Monster Among Men, he’ll get those hands. However, just about anyone who has crossed The Texas Rattlesnake over the past 20-plus years has gotten a Stunner for their trouble, no matter their size.

Raw King of the Ring Semifinal match becomes a triple threat

Anything can happen in WWE, and if you’re Baron Corbin, the surprises aren’t always pleasant.

After Ricochet and Samoa Joe’s King of the Ring quarterfinal bout ended in a rarely seen double pinfall, WWE officials determined that both Superstars would advance to the semifinal round on Raw’s side of the bracket. As such, Corbin – who defeated an injured Cedric Alexander in his own quarterfinal match – will meet WWE’s resident superhero and The Samoan Shark in a Triple Threat Match Monday night on Raw. The winner of that semifinal match will go on to face a Superstar from SmackDown LIVE in the final match of the 2019 King of the Ring tournament.

Which of these three intensely competitive Superstars will advance?

The battle of WWE's Four Horsewomen

After SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley helped Sasha Banks obliterate Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in separate attacks on Raw and SmackDown LIVE this past week, The Man and The Queen will form an unexpected alliance against the brutal best friends in a monumental tag team match involving all of WWE’s Four Horsewomen. Before the highly-anticipated showdown, ESPN spoke with all four of the groundbreaking competitors.

With Lynch poised to defend her title against The Boss and Flair challenging Bayley for her championship next Sunday at WWE Clash of Champions, who will gain key momentum?

Rey Mysterio returns to action against Gran Metalik

Three weeks after his son Dominick pulled him from the brink of retirement, Rey Mysterio will compete on Monday Night Raw, taking on fellow luchador Gran Metalik of Lucha House Party in one-on-one combat.

With Dominick no doubt watching closely, how will The Ultimate Underdog fare against the high-flying Metalik as the masked warriors square off in legendary Madison Square Garden?

Cedric Alexander looks for payback against AJ Styles

A backstage attack by The O.C. hindered Cedric Alexander’s chances of advancing in the King of the Ring tournament on Raw, and now this astoundingly athletic Superstar will have a chance at retribution against United States Champion AJ Styles when he battles The Phenomenal One this Monday night.

With his King of the Ring dreams tarnished by Styles and his nefarious allies Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Alexander will no doubt hold nothing back against the U.S. Champion. Will Alexander settle the score?

Honestly judging on the preview alone, sounds like it'll be a really solid show. Rey/Metalik and Cedric/AJ should both be really good matches. I hope anyone but Ricochet win's the triple threat, but knowing my luck...

You can’t say they aren’t trying harder to make this show sound like one to check out. Have the 4 horsewomen ever been in the same ring together on the main roster?

I dunno I thought AJ looked like a goof getting stunned by Austin.

People were guessing The Fiend would take out Stone Cold tonight, hearing stories about him I don't think Austin will let someone get over on him.

Ok. Well, at least they're putting the Vikings to some use. Unexpected but I could get into it.

So I'm guessing we're getting AJ/Cedric at COC? Shame, was really hoping for Braun/Seth/AJ winner takes all as unlikely as it was.

That wasn't on Raw, that was on his tv show. Before you reply it happened though, I know it did but not on Raw, or a PPV.

Whether Austin would agree to be taken out by The Fiend or not would be a big indicator of how much of a company guy he is. It's one thing to let Becky hit him with the stunner on his own TV show, which exists completely independent of the wrestling bubble. It would be a whole different thing to actually put over Bray Wyatt on WWE TV. I like to think he'd be willing to do it, but I can't say I'm sure he would.

Can you even blame Austin if he wouldn't want to do it? Getting one over on Austin should feel huge. At the end of the day, Austin watches the same product we do, and he's more than well-aware of how inconsistent pushes and booking have been in recent years. The Fiend is hot shit right now, but in 2 months for all we know, him, Lashley, and Mojo will be sitting down in catering every Monday for 3 hours.

I get the benefit of Austin coming out on Raw for a ratings boost, but how does him stunning guys benefit any current talent? Seems kind of ass backwards to me.

That's the thing. How much does he (and WWE) believe in The Fiend? It's huge at the moment and WWE reportedly have huge plans for him. But, they had huge plans for Wyatt the first time around and that never really came to fruition either. Plus, Austin is arguably the biggest superstar in WWE history. To an extent, you can't blame him for wanting his character protected, even in retirement.

I don't think Charlotte's ever met a bump she didn't want to take.

Man I said great match and we see multiple Charlotte botches haha, at least she's willing to take chances.
