Night of Champions WWE Clash of Champions 2019 - WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton

Though it seemed Kingston and Orton would settle their rekindled, decade-old rivalry at SummerSlam, a double count-out only fueled Kingston, who unleashed a vicious post-match Kendo stick assault on his challenger in lieu of a satisfying match result. By way of the savage beating, Kofi made it clear that he was not the same person Orton faced 10 years earlier.

Kingston’s resolve may have come from the fact that he understood the remorseless Orton like few others, having experienced his sadistic nature several times over the years. Though Orton is a Superstar with no conscience, Kofi knows the danger of stepping into the ring the 13-time World Champion, and the WWE Champion needed to show that he will not back down no matter what. Still, while a new chapter was written at The Biggest Event of the Summer, the two Superstars were far from done with each other.

In the weeks that followed SummerSlam, Orton brought the volatile situation to new heights (or to new lows). Aligning himself with The Revival, he began to target Kofi and the rest of The New Day while spreading the message that Kingston was “stupid” and that his actions had caused his family to lose faith in him. He even instructed The Revival to attempt to break Xavier Woods’ leg while holding Kingston in place and forcing him to watch.

As a result of the growing animosity, WWE.com learned that Kingston will once against battle Orton at WWE Clash of Champions.

What will happen when these two bitter rivals attempt to tear each other to shreds during their collision for the WWE Championship? Find out at WWE Clash of Champions on Sunday, Sept. 15, streaming live at 7 ET/4 PT on the award-winning WWE Network.

I say Orton wins here and Orton finally wins his 14th World Title...considering Orton hasn't had a title reign since 2017 I think Orton is overdue for a title reign at this point

I think my only problem with Kingston's reign is that not a single one of his matches are with the idea that "this match must close the show".

Honestly, I think I haven't been this non-excited for a title match in a while.
    Everything will surely be alright.

It's unfortunate but this feud feels like such an afterthought, even if it is prominently featured. Seth/Braun, Roman/Rowan/Bryan, and Sasha/Becky all just feel like a bigger deal.

I've actually quite enjoyed this feud. Been fun to me, and something about Orton just shouting "STUPID!" at Kingston makes me chuckle every time Haha!

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Orton win the Championship either, I never really bought much into the "Kofi Mania" stuff as cool as it was to see, I never really clambered for Kofi as WWE Champion. I'd have rather seen Dolph because.. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HIM!

    I unfortunately agree.

He certainly deserves to finally get a hold of the WWE title, and it certainly also goes to show that WWE sometimes can't NOT listen to the Universe. It happened for Daniel Bryan and its happened for Kofi.

Unfortunate thing for Kofi and something I believe has been a small reason for holding him back just like the likes of a Cesaro for men and dare I say injuries not included a Tamina for the women is that he isnt the most amazing of promo/talkers. He can hold his own, but they always come off just a little bland. Where as someone like Bryan however can do both very well.

That said. I cant decide, I am not a fan of this current reign, however I dont think Randy needs another reign yet. i would prefer it would go to someone like Kevin Owens or Finn Balor

Re: WWE Clash of Champions 2019 - WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton

This is really Kofi's first proper feud since winning the title, which is a shame. Thanks to other things getting in the way, he didn't get to really solidify his win by facing Bryan again with a proper built rematch, then there was the Owens (rushed) and Ziggler (long-winded) nonsense that just never really seemed to get people excited. I've really enjoyed how this has gone though. I get why people were pissed about the finished at SummerSlam but personally I like it; a clean win for Kofi would've ended the feud and Orton winning would've felt like the company confirming Kingston shouldn't be in his current position. I expect Orton to win here with shennanigans and the blow off to come at Hell in a Cell, hopefully with Kofi regaining the belt and vanquishing the Viper.

I really dig the Orton/Kofi feud as I think the history of what we know between them has elvated the feud.

    Spoiler:

Re: WWE Clash of Champions 2019 - WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton

I feel like Kofi's story about finally making it to the top has come full circle now that he recreated the MSG Boom Drop with Orton. From doing it ten years ago during his first failed attempt at a major push, to doing it now as the WWE Champion. Looking at it that way I can't see anything else that Kofi has to offer as the champ. I would be ok with Orton winning the title here and retaining inside Hell in a Cell next month. SmackDown moving to Fox with a big name like Orton as the WWE Champion would be neat. And then a feud between Orton and Owens over the title would be perfect I believe.

My question is, if Orton doesn't take the title off Kofi, who does?
