I'm surprised there's not a celebration over this, because it got one of the more hated people in the business, out of the business. The joke was horribly unfunny, hackey and outdated, no argument from me.

    Re: NWA General Discussion Thread

    Alright, thoughts on the episode:

    Spoiler:

    - Immediately, first things first, Cornette isn't there, and it looks like they completely re-shot the episode and recut it to no longer include Cornette, instead of just having the episode as regularly and leaving a disclaimer. Disappointing, for the most part.

    - We basically get a clip show set up for the episode since, y'know, Cornette. Which fucks up the whole aesthetic of a live crowd and intimate experience.

    - We get an interview from Eli Drake at Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, calling out Nick Aldis, wanting to challenge for the title. Says he's different from Nick Aldis, and is willing to wait for his spot. Crowd loves him, so there is that.

    - Galli mentions Thunder Rosa and Melina and the women's division. Nothing special.

    - Hype up as Rock & Roll challenge Wild Card at the Pay Per View. Recap of the promo by Rock & Roll and WIld Card. So no match yet.

    - Thunder Rosa segment. Just humanizes her and gives her life story leading up to an MMA fight. That's nice and all, but when do they wrestle?

    - We get an interview with Aaron Stevens and ?The Question Mark? in an empty studio. Fuck, they seriously botched this. You could have let the regular episodes air as is but this just doesn't cut it, man. Anyways, Aaron Stevens says he knows who ?The Question Mark? is, he hails from Mongrovia, an expert in Karate... Kara-taaaay. Says he helped Stevens get ready for his new project, "Shoguns of Malibu". Available in six months, of course. They're brothers, and they're gonna kick ass against the Dawsons. BRUH. Guy says if they win the Dawsons have to read Shakespeare. I love it. Actin' Ain't Easy, says Stevens.

    - FINALLY A MATCH! ?The Question Mark? vs. Zane Dawson. Mask vs. Shakespeare. In an empty arena match... Jesus Christ, NWA. Is this going to be next week's show too? Because if so, that's deplorable. TQM (?The Question Mark?) starts off hot hitting Zane with his chops. Zane bounces back and gets leverage to fight TQM. The set up on this is so messy without the crowd. TQM HITS HIS FINISHER AND WINS!!! MONGROVIAN SPIKE BRUH!!! ZANE BETTER READ HAMLET!!! *

    - Dawsons are gracious losers and read Shakespeare. Holy shit it is cringy. It's so bad Stevens throws up in a trash can, bruh.

    - Bro, TQM vs. Trevor Murdoch at the Pay Per View? YES PLEASE.

    - We get an interview with Melina. She says she loved wrestling as a kid, and loved when people fought for something. Melina says people fought for their families and survival, in that ring. So is she a face or a heel? Melina basically says she doesn't wrestle just anywhere, she wrestles places she feels is worthy of her presence. She wants to revolutionize the women's division in NWA and make it the best. Good luck with that. She wants to prove she can beat Alysin Kay. Admits she's a bitch holy shit. She says she's a living legend and that the NWA Women's Championship deserves more than to be around Kay's waist.

    - We get a segment from Billy Corgan about NWA's new show. Cool.

    - The final segment of the night is the second part of the Thunder Rosa MMA story. I literally can't care less right now, I just came for an hour of wrestling and what I got was disappointment.

I have no bones about saying this is easily the worst episode of Powerrr, by far. If next week is going to be the same thing because of the Cornette thing, then holy shit what a way to tank your series not even 10 episodes in. You should have just put disclaimers at the beginning of your tapes and aired them as they were, god damn. This episode was 3/10.

I fully agree. I hate they are in a bad spot, but episodes like this will only make it worse.

I like this news. I was a big fan of Barrett, especially Bad News Barrett. I think he’ll be a good fit for NWA

Big step up over Corny imo. He’s at least got a modern view of things. Love what NWA is doing.

    Re: NWA General Discussion Thread

    Source: http://www.fightful.com/wrestling/coverage-nwa-worlds-champion-nick-aldis-fite-tv-media-call

Coverage of the Fite TV media call, with NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis ahead of NWA Into The Fire!
    - Aldis thinks we're seeing one of the healthiest shifts in the wrestling business in decades. WWE's monopoly held a lot of power over talent. Aldis says wrestling is built on strong personalities, and Fite TV gives a lot of people the ability to showcase that.

    - Dressing like a professional is broached, with Aldis remembering that Scott Hall told him to emphasize the "pro" in pro wrestling.

    - Aldis admits he wasn't ready for his TV run with TNA, but wasn't going to turn it down. His evolution and growth happened on TV. He's had to break the mold of people thinking he's "whatever" because of his TNA run. He says he was "whatever" at that point, and Magnus is dead.

    - NWA doesn't spend as much time on booking decisions, because that's easy. Aldis believes a lot of wrestling booking is overthought. He mentions personalities like Trevor Murdoch getting over even in losing.

    - The goal of NWA now is to make the show profitable. They're further ahead than they expected, and Billy Corgan had a 20 year plan with NWA.

    - Being on YouTube wasn't his vision, but right now it's their TV and it promotes live events and PPVs like the wrestling model used to be. If they had WWE's money, who knows what they'd be doing for TV.

    - Aldis says anything that he put out there about the Jim Cornette situation was him saying what he wanted. He was careful and stands by what he said. He defended Jim in the past, but when controversial comments outshine the show, it's counterproductive. He calls the line "unnecessary."

    - Aldis puts over Ricky Starks and Thunder Rosa, and says that Rosa will surprise people with her promos. Allsyin Kay is also put over as a pro and a champion.

    - Nick Aldis thinks Rampage Brown, Sha Samuels and others would be good additions to the NWA.

    Bought the PPV last night....

I was happy with my purchase. I felt the card was extremely top heavy, but the matches I wanted to see delivered.

Aldis and Storm had great chemistry. Its good to see the NWA strap have this much passion attached to it.

    Re: NWA General Discussion Thread

Yeah, I bought the show yesterday too and thought it was pretty solid. It was shorter than what I’m used to with PPVs but I’m not complaining.

I really enjoyed just about every match, triple threat match for the National title was real good as was the main event and I even enjoyed the opener with Anderson and Drake.

    Re: NWA General Discussion Thread

Great way to follow up the PPV this week. This TV title tournament should be a great fixture for the coming weeks but I think the 6 minute, 5 second time limit is just needless. I'm sure it will come into play, or else there would really be no reason to add the stip, but like just make it a 10 minute time limit and stop trying to be cute.

Impressed as always by how much they manage to achieve in roundabout 1 hour.

Really curious how long Scurll will be in NWA. I could see it being a pit stop, maybe just to win the title and hold for it a little bit, but then again maybe he likes what he sees in the company and the freedom to work in other companies might be a big selling point for him right now. Once/if he goes to WWE or AEW, he really won't be able to work the indies, so maybe he just wants to hit up all the places he likes one more time before heading up somewhere else. Whatever the case, it's a great score for NWA and definitely helps to boost their legitimacy. The Jim Cornette fiasco was definitely a hit to their brand but this is a great way to bounce back and get back on the right track.

Scott Steiner makes his NWA debut here tonight in a pretty solid six man tag.

The developments with Aldis and Strictly Business "invading" ROH have a lot of promise. The more collaboration between those companies the better, I'd suspect. And I'm all for another round of Scurll vs. Aldis.

    Re: NWA General Discussion Thread

Watched a few bits and pieces of NWA recently, and I've dug what I've seen so far. I love seeing a bit of a throwback to when Pro Wrestling was Pro Wrestling, before it just became an acrobat routine. I'm really digging the abundance of characters, and the simplicity of the matches which are two very welcome changes to the fast paced spot fests between two bland workers with all the personality of a potato that has come to dominate what Wrestling is thesedays.

Aldis is a really great old school heel World Champion. Everything works so well here, the small crowd, the ring layout with a promo/interview area off to the side.
