Unfortunately going to miss this one, but I hope Lawler smashes Colby.

Why such an early start for a US event?

Main event was lame. Robbie too gunshy. Colby not a great striker but his pressure really forced Lawler into doing nothing. A shame. Really good wrestling but either he was toying with Lawler or he legitimately doesn't know how to do a RNC. Robbie wasn't even fighting hands

Almost ended up with 3 accidental deaths tonight because refs failed to spot people choked out. Unreal. Legitimately terrifying.

Re: UFC on ESPN August 3rd - Covington vs Lawler

Covington was only doing the RNC to have Lawler carry his weight, he never squeezed harder than holding him in position. That wasn't his game plan. He fought very similar to how the Diaz brothers fight, just lots of volume strikes differing from soft to hard with multiple takedowns. He never really went to finish Robbie, because if he did really go for the RNC and gas his arms out and Robbie escapes, Robbie firing and Covington's arms are jello. Lawler couldn't figure out that Covington never committed 100% anywhere, just enough to keep him guessing and control the fight.

Lawlers long been prone to moments of inactivity in most of his fights, those periods where he just coasts and seems to rest. This was basically just 25 minutes of that.
