Yeah, despite years of absolute trash there's some really good Sonic games out there. Generations, Colours, Mania in particular.

Re: WC's Fave Five Video Games of 2008!!

Sorry again for the wait everyone, here's the start of the top five.

    Tie - 5th
    Fable II - 90 (Grim #1, Jimmy King #4, Necro #4)

    Gears of War 2 - 90 (Necro #2, Jimmy King #3, Postman Dave #4)

    4th
    Persona 4 - 130 (Zero #1, Silk #2, Baloocha #2)

    3rd
    Left 4 Dead - 240 (Postman Dave #2, Jimmy King #2, The Natural #2, Grim #2, OMB #2, Smooth Jazz Wolf #2)

Unfortunately for Left 4 Dead, being everyone's second favorite game isn't enough to net it an actual top two spot, but I'm sure one of the decade's premier multiplayer games will settle for a strong third. While the rest of the game devs were onto the next gen by now, Atlus snuck a JRPG classic onto the PS2, making Persona 4 a beautiful swan song for that amazing system. And Microsoft gets itself a nice little win, with sequels to it's fledgling franchises nabbing a nice top five spot here. I preferred Fable 2 quite a bit of all the games in the series, and am happy to see it do well here.

So how does it all end? Find out tonight.

I was obsessed with Gears of War 2 for a long while. Playing it every night online with coworkers.

Hm. Left 4 Dead was fun, but not really something that kept my interest for a long time.

Gears of War was a really good series, no doubt. Should replay them at some point, as I have not really played them much at all since they came out and I played through them originally.

    Fable II was very good.

Persona is a series (along with Disgaea) that I've wanted to get into, and I actually have picked up a handful of the games. Just more stuff on the backlog, but they look really great.
    Everything will surely be alright.

I love the L4D games, played the heck out of the first one and I played the sequel twice as much. It’s a bummer we never got that third game though.

I enjoyed Fable 2 quite a bit as well, probably my favorite of the series. Gears 2 was a lot of fun with a solid story, but that online multiplayer was broken or maybe I just wasn’t good, probably the latter

If you're a fan of Left 4 Dead and want a sequel I highly recommend probing around for the Warhammer Vermintide games. They're a fantasy aesthetic instead of zombies but it's the same gameplay mechanics with better progression. Really cool games.

I wish they would make a Warhammer 40k version. I prefer the sci fi universe over the fantasy universe.

Re: WC's Fave Five Video Games of 2008!!

    2nd
Grand Theft Auto IV - 310 (Jimmy King #1, The Natural #1, Sully #1, RED #2, Jiggy #2, Necro #3, Baloocha #4, Smooth Jazz Wolf #4, Sakura #5)

And your number one video game of 2008....

    1st
    Fallout 3 - 350 (Postman Dave #1, OMB #1, Baloocha #1, RED #1, Jiggy #1, Smooth Jazz Wolf #1, Sully #2, The Natural #5)

And so Bethesda's blockbuster reinvention of the Fallout series earns them the number one spot in 2008. With a deeply immersive and engaging post-apocalyptic Washington DC, Fallout 3 took the series from cult hit to genuine blockbuster, a status it still holds today though Bethesda is trying damn hard to shake that good will. Rockstar continues their stranglehold on WC Fave Fives with a strong second place finish for GTA IV and though this is where the devs started going a bit downhill for me, a lot of people disagree clearly and think quite highly of their fourth crime epic. Certainly a worthy top two.

We'll take a break for a few days and then I'll start asking for lists for more things. Thanks again for everyone who voted and for putting up with my delays!

    Hell yes.

I'd go as far as to call Fallout 3 one of the best games ever, and there are few gaming moments as engrained in my memory as when you step out of the vault for the first time. A true masterpiece.

Never played a lot of GTA IV surprisingly.

    Both really good games.

I didn't have room for Fallout 3, and I knew it'd get a lot of votes (Didn't think THAT many, but hey!) on here. I was a huge fan of the first two games and Tactics, and was initially quite skeptical about the direction they went for 3 and the later games. They did quite good, and while I personally still prefer the original ones, it was certainly still really good.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Although I enjoyed New Vegas more than this, Fallout 3 remains one of my personal favorite video games. Better than Fallout 4 imo.

    GTV IV was damn good.

GTA IV was/is excellent, it has a fun story and all the dlc stories are great.
