    Re: WC's Fave Five Albums - 2002

Next up in our travels through 2002 are the 20 Pointers:

Comalies - Lacuna Coil (Creeping Death #4)

    Spoiler:

Living With the Past - Jethro Tull (Baloocha #4)

    Spoiler:

The Mantle - Agollach (King Steventon #4)

    Spoiler:

The Illusion of Safety - Thrice (Silk #4)

    Spoiler:

Original Pirate Material - The Streets (Postman Dave #4)

    Spoiler:

So It's Like That - Joe Bonamassa (Ms Flock #4)

    Spoiler:

Monsters In the Closet - Swollen Members (#4 Jake Your Booty)

    Spoiler:

Alive or Just Breathing - Killswitch Engage (Styles of Punk #4)

    Spoiler:

The Guest - Phantom Planet (Mister Miracle #4)

    Spoiler:

Other than Jethro Tull, the guitar prodigy Joe Bonamassa and my album by Phantom Planet, I don't know much about the rest of them. They don't enter my area of music. I do like that Swollen members album art.

Bonamassa's first album came out in 2000 when he was 23. He'd been a professional musician since he was about 11 or 12 years old.

    Re: WC's Fave Five Albums - 2002

Away From The Sun: Not a huge fan of this band but this is probably their best record. Obviously some big hits around this time period. They're still going at it these days, but I haven't heard a song in years.

Disclaimer: Down my list a ways but was considered. Seether is one of the bands from this genre I still go back to and this isn't their strongest work but is a pretty consistent debut.

Stone Sour: Not a strong contender on my list because despite liking Taylor's voice I've never dug Stone Sour much. Some good songs here and there but I'd just be missing Slipknot instead.

Maldroit: The last respectable Weezer album for several years after this. On my list but not particularly close to making the cut.

Comalies: I never liked Lacuna Coil as much as I wanted to but I haven't given them a shot in many years. Might take this record for a spin later today.

The Guest: Solid album I briefly flirted with for a higher tier of my list, picked up thanks to the band doing the theme song for The O.C. Jason Schwartzman's in this shit too.

    AAAANNNNDDDD

The Illusion of Safety: Thrice is pretty much on top of their game with every record starting with this one. Building on Identity Crisis with much stronger songs, this is pretty much peak hardcore Thrice. They'd smooth out those last few edges for Artist in the Ambulance and Vheissu afterwards (both superior records), but this album still rips and is a great starting place to get into one of the best rock bands of the last twenty years.

Comalies and Original Pirate Material were on my shortlist so props to CD and Postman for getting them on the list. Honestly any hip hop fans should take a serious listen to that Swollen Members album they remain unsung heros of hip hop underground

Out of everything else listed, I’ve heard Away From The Sun and Maladroit. I like both of those but unfortunately did not have room to make my list.
God I love this song I got to say I think his work in Stone Sour vocal wise is better then Slipknot's I love this music video as well this song is great too.

    Re: WC's Fave Five Albums - 2002

The 30 Pointers are upon us:

The Coral - The Coral (Shock #3)

    Spoiler:

    40 Years - The Dubliners (Baloocha #3)

    Spoiler:

Infiltrate - Destroy - Rebuild - CKY (Jake That Booty #3)

    Spoiler:

Killing the Dragon - Dio (Ms Flock #3)

    Spoiler:

Geogaddi - Boards of Canada (King Steventon #3)

    Spoiler:

In Violet Light - The Tragically Hip (Fuji Vice #3)

    Spoiler:

Suicide Invoice - Hot Snakes (Mister Miracle #3)

    Spoiler:

Another very different group of albums. The Tragically Hip are Canadian royalty. If you haven't seen the documentary about Gord and them, please do, you'll be crying by the end of it. I had heard of The Coral, but never listened to them, but I like what I heard. The Dubliners I know through The Pogues of course...great band. Dio is well, Dio...so, you know what you're getting from him. CKY are a fun band, they show progress on this album. Not familiar with Boards of Canada. I don't expect anyone else to know who Hot Snakes are nor any of the bands that spawned the band, but check them out, they're excellent. John Reis is great.

    WC's Fave Five Albums - 2002

Fun fact, I was at the very last Hip show ever. It was the most bittersweet moment ever but I’m eternally thankful that I got to experience their Canadian magic one last time.

CKY was on my shortlist. Love that album. Boards of Canada are great too.

Sweet glad someone else loves that album as I seem to be the only ones voting for any of mine. Oh well this was a crazy year I guess.

    Re: WC's Fave Five Albums - 2002

It's not Vader Time, but it is time for the 40 Pointers:

Remission - Mastodon (Creeping Death #3, King Steventon #5)

    Spoiler:

Down II - Down (Creeping Death #2)

    Spoiler:

Alice - Tom Waits (Baloocha #2)

    Spoiler:

Bounce - Bon Jovi (Ms Flock #2)

    Spoiler:

Heathen Chemistry - Oasis (Mikk #2)

    Spoiler:

Oceanic - Isis (King Steventon #2)

    Spoiler:

Welcome - Taproot (Styles of Punk #2)

    Spoiler:

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - Wilco (Mister Miracle #2)

    Spoiler:

Out of this group I'm familiar with everything but Taproot and I don't think I'd get along with them. I respect Tom Waits, not a fan of his music. I know Isis, because they were from the Boston area. I love Noel Gallagher, but not the crybaby, I mean Liam. Mastodon's debut is great, but they get better. Bon Jovi's effort isn't my cup of tea. Down is okay. Wow, I hate everything. I love the Wilco album, but they're a much better live band. There, I trashed them too.

I have a lot of great memories of the Bon Jovi Bounce album. Nick and I even skipped morning classes the day it came out so we could go get it lol. Spent the morning listening to the entire album

Got nothing for most of these. Vague familiarity with CKY and Taproot but never stuck to either. Tom Waits makes some killer music but his voice has always been too much for me to get around, just not my cup of tea.

Happy to see most of my list get some secondary support.

Might have to listen to some of these at some point.

Thought there might've been some more Oasis love though
