Angsty 16 year old Jimmy King approves of the list that I just sent in. Current me approves too because I find myself still listening to these albums every now and then.

All I'll say about my age in 2002 is that I was as old as some of you are currently.

I was 23 and my musical tastes had clearly shifted by this point. The list I submitted definitely reflects this, though as I mentioned in my PM, I could see potential votes for 2 of my choices.

I'll definitely match one of my albums, but not any others unless someone surprises me with a list later on.

We do have an early leader for #1, with a solid 2nd place candidate so far, still a week to get lists in, it could all change quickly.

This is one of those rare times that I see the thread in time to vote, but I have nothing to vote for. In the stretch from 1994 to 2008 there are a small number of full albums I like.

If everyone is good and I've gotten all the lists, I'm going to wrap this up by the end of tonight and start the countdown a day early.

    Spoiler:

    () - Sigur Ros (Fuji Vice #5)

    Spoiler:

Maladroit - Weezer (Mister Miracle #5)

    Spoiler:

I think 2002 will be the most diverse year yet. We're all over the place with albums to start with. I think it's great, there are things here I've never heard of (Paul Barman) liked him and his style, bands I'd heard of but never listened to (3 Doors, Hatebreed, Stone Sour..etc) and then the WTF of Sigur Ros. I band I knew about, but just never heard and didn't quite expect that. The Iced Earth cover album is excellent, hard to pick a song to feature. My pick was Weezer, a band that I've always loved, because Rivers does his Rivers thing and really doesn't care if you love it or not.

Thought maybe Away From The Sun would get more love. Maybe it's because DBZ music vids were all the rage for me but they seemed like a popular band. I enjoyed AFTS a lot but it's very much a nostalgia vote.

    Re: WC's Fave Five Albums - 2002

The Sigur Ros album is pretty great, though not as great as their previous effort. I like the fact that the songs are sung in basically gibberish, so that you don't really need an emotional connection to the lyrics, just the music. One of the songs on this album is used during the end scene of Vanilla Sky, where Tom Cruise is plummeting off the roof, forever linking this bizarre band with a Hollywood megastar.

As far as them being WTF, I was originally going to include Godspeed You! Black Emperor's "Yanqui U.X.O." instead of it, so be thankful I didn't!

Yeah Paul Barman is a super deep cut but I listened to that album a lot in 2002. Can’t say I’ve listened to much of the others listed.

The song I put up for Sigur Ros is the song that's in Vanilla Sky. I knew I'd heard them before, just never went beyond that song. I think we all have "bizarre" favorite bands. I left Sonic Youth off the list, because most people I know don't get them, but it's also not my favorite album by them.

It was very close between AFTS and Disclaimer for me. Seether's edge was Fine Again, one of my favourite songs ever.

    Re: WC's Fave Five Albums - 2002

At the time of its release I didn’t listen to Stone Sour regularly, but I knew one song from that album called “Bother”. I liked that song a lot and eventually I heard the rest of the album and dug it all, I’m a big Corey Taylor fan.

Out of everything else listed, I’ve heard Away From The Sun and Maladroit. I like both of those but unfortunately did not have room to make my list.
