I'd argue that he actually regressed big time this year before the Survivor Series match.

Did he really regress? Before the Dijak feud he wasn't given much TV time to show what he can do. The moment he was he showed just how great he can be.

When I said regressed, the Dijak matches are exactly examples of what I mean by that. He leaned into his worst qualities for those matches (No selling moves and doing awful indie style of matches) and wasn't good as as he showed to be last year. That's regression to me. But like you said, he didn't do anything this year so it's not SO bad that I'd vote for him in the Fall From Grace award. The 5 minute portion he had with Roman was promising though. So maybe 2020 will be better for him.

I know you do, it's your sort of match. I just really don't like those matches . I prefer Keith Lee (Dijak is actually more accountable for this than Keith Lee) to be more like a heavyweight rather than having those matches which can work for a ton of people but not him or Dijak.

I’m gonna give love to the Street Profits on this one. Especially Dawkins. He’s gotten a ton better in the ring and the charisma they both ooze is undeniable.

Someone that just popped into my heads as I filled in my ballot was Jon Moxley. In terms of what he offered in 2018 and 2019, it's been a vast improvement.

I'd say that's more of a booking thing rather than a personal improvement

It's both. Moxley has never been as good as he has now, although I've never really rated that highly myself. I probably should've thought of him because he'd be my #1.

Mox is a very good shout, I can't remember the last good match he had as Ambrose, yet as Moxley he's been killing it. Worthy shout.

The McIntyre matches were pretty damn good but yeah, still.. he has definitely taken it to a new level.

I think it's both. His booking opportunities have allowed him to be involved in tasty matches that had the potential to be great and renew his love for wrestling, but I also think he's grown as a performer as well because there's been plenty times over his 8 years with WWE where they got behind him and pushed him and it didn't really result in many great matches. I don't think it's wild to say out of the Shield guys, Ambrose had to fewest amount of 4 star+ matches in the time they were all in WWE and I don't think it was a sure fire certainty that he'd be able to succeed in New Japan. I can recall people saying that not only was his character goofy, he would wrestle goofy too and stuff like the rebound lariat was a real pet peeve to some fans. That Darby Allin match in AEW, Mox is pretty much working as a veteran who is not just using the match to get a W in his name while he enjoys a push, but is trying to make his opponent look as great as possible to elevate them, and I can't really think of many WWE matches where Ambrose was trying to help make someone and put in a mature, experienced performance.

That, and I always factor in 'was booked better' into this award to so that someone who had no opportunities previously but stood out when they got some the following year can win this, which is why I voted for Buddy Murphy last year. An improvement in your output is just as key to me as an improvement in your ability.
