I mean I enjoyed Gargano/Cole that be my pick but I also think Gargano vs. Ricochet from Takeover made me cream my pants then again so did Miz/Shane and even Kofi in the chamber match. So its a toss up

Easily Bryan vs Kofi Kingston at Wrestlemania so far. No match had that much emotion and drama, nor was it matched in excitement by any other match, imo.

I do need to rewatch the mania match, but I actually prefer the Elimination Chamber to WM. Chamber felt more unpredictable and organic whereas mania didn't really surprise me, I got pretty much what I expected. I think Kofi's performance was better in the chamber too. Both are in my top 3 for the year though along with the boy Tomohiro Ishii taking on Okada in the Cup semi finals.

Re: 2019 Match of the Year Ongoing Discussion

To me EC was more predictable. At WM there was a chance TND could turn & cost Kofi where never for a second did I think Kofi would win at EC.

It's hard because to me Kofi/Bryan was a great match with the most drama but to me Thatcher vs. Ishikawa & Thatcher vs. Hideki were better "match matches" but ultimately just exhibition dream matches with no backstory. That said, at the end of the year if things go South booking-wise, will it hold up as a pure match? I know the other two will no matter what happens. My gut's telling me Kofi/Bryan but my heart's leading me to the Thatch man.

Yeah the Kofi vs Bryan match from Mania over the Elimination Chamber match even if the result was a little more predictable.

Not for me but I'm sure it's jumped into some people's thoughts for MOTY.

I've got it sixth on my top 10 matches list, so it's up there for me too. Also, I rewatched Bryan vs Kofi, dropped from the #1 so Thatcher vs Ishikawa takes it for now.

Forgot to mention this at the time but Nakatsu vs. Sekine from the BASARA 06/05 show was excellent. Definitely a contender for me.

Mine is pretty much AJ/Rollins at MITB or the Men's Match even despite the finish.

Re: 2019 Match of the Year Ongoing Discussion

I will throw in Moxley vs Juice and Ospreay vs Shingo from the BOSJ Finals. Certainly my Top 2 matches from Japan by a wide margin.

Ospreay vs Shingo in particular I was shocked how much I enjoyed it considering I don't really like either guy, but they worked a really great clash of styles power vs flier match that is sorely lacking in NJ these days. They managed to go big and epic without killing time or feeling like it went overboard. Ospreay kept the silly offence and Davey Richards faces to a minimum even though they were still there.

Re: 2019 Match of the Year Ongoing Discussion

Shingo/Ospreay is currently in my top 5, and Riddle/Strong is not far away either.

I do think the quality of high end MOTYCs is down on last year to say we're almost at the halfway mark. That's to be expected though with WWE signing up way too many guys, not having a great year themselves, AEW's roster wrestling a very light schedule so far.

Shingo I think has two of my top five right now. I don’t have the effort to do a list but the Sho and Ospreay matches are up there.

Also Invisible Man vs Invisible Stan
