2019 Tag Team of the Year Ongoing Discussion

Who's been the best tag team in the world so far this year? I don't think we've ever mentioned it previously as no-one put a female team forward, but the tag awards are unisex.

    Previous Winners:

    2006 - MNM
2007 - Motor City Machine Guns
    2008 - John Morrison & The Miz
2009 - Chris Jericho & The Big Show
2010 - The Kings Of Wrestling
    2011 - The Briscoes
    2012 - Team Hell No
    2013 - The Shield(Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns)
    2014 - The Usos
    2015 - The New Day
    2016 - The Revival
    2017 - The Usos
    2018 - The Undisputed Era

Purely from a WWE viewpoint Aleister Black and Ricochet are hard to look past for this one so far.

WWE are a tricky promotion for this award because this year especially their tag division is just an afterthought where no-one has an important angle going on other than to set up Shane McMahon and Miz. Given those title matches exceeded expectations I'd lean there way but Ricochet and Black have been mighty impressive this last month or so when you include the Dusty Cup stuff.

European Union have been immense everytime I've seen them so far this year, but they could really do with a big Takeover UK match to get people talking about them more.

Strong BJ and Violent Giants have had the tag rivalry of the year so far.

Gonna be a tough one. I'm looking at my best matches list an there isn't a whole lot of tag matches to choose from. Gonna keep a special eye on this.

It has to be Strong BJ or the Violence Giants at this point. I also have enjoyed the Stardom team of AMA (Mayu Iwatani & Arisa Hoshiki) although Mayu's injury might take them down a notch.

SCU gets my vote. They've been on fire for years and really deserves a shout.

Not even the best tag team in AEW, let alone the whole year.

Re: 2019 Tag Team of the Year Ongoing Discussion

Reading this through again and it's even more dumb a decision to split up Ricochet and Black when there were no plans to do anything significant with either man.

It's been a poor year for tag teams in WWE, and AEW have only been putting on meaningful tags since Dynamite launched so someone is going to win this award without doing an awful lot. Bucks may end up getting a nom from me with the DoN tag against Lucha Bros, the private party tournament upset and the RnR Express tribute match against LAX last weekend all being matches I enjoyed.

I'm still very tempted to include Rock N Roll Express as one of my top 3 noms.
