The FWA has picked back up with a "Revival" but could both feds do that at the same time?

One of those things where you have to consider is it better/easier to try and run two different feds on the same forum where they effectively poach potential writers and interest from each other or just have one fed?

There does still seem to be some passion towards and interest in the CWA here though. The FWA could have come to an end years ago when our old forum went down, so I know how shitty it can be seeing something you've put a lot of time, effort and creativity into potentially "die".

I think logically one big last hurrah of a show and then a merger makes most sense. But I'd be up for bringing a new character into the CWA if its brought back to life.
I wasn't going to offer any thoughts on this because I have never had anything to do with CWA so I feel like it's none of my business, but a few people are attributing this death to FWA and CWA both existing and mama bear has to come out now and defend her cubs. I don't think that's ever been an issue. 80% of the FWA roster are RP'ers who carried over from PWS. The other handful are people like AON and OMB who RP in both feds and do so well enough to where it doesn't impact their work in either. The only exception to this is Cyrus, but you'd have to ask him why he left one fed in favor of another, I can't answer that. All I can answer is that on the FWA back end, we've always had a strict "no poaching" rule out of respect to CWA. I only bring this up because I don't think the FWA and CWA co-existing is what killed CWA. Anyone who may have signed up for e-feds in the last 5 months has had to choose between a fed that's active and one that isn't active. If FWA isn't there and it never existed at all, they aren't joining the inactive fed either, they are looking for a different one on a different site. CWA and FWA prospered together for 4 years. CWA dying has more to do with inactivity and perhaps loss of interest, and I don't really think anyone is to blame in that regard.

Do I think the CWA and FWA can co-exist? Absolutely, as I stated before they both did for over 4 years and it was never an issue. But it would take a mod team (not just 1 guy, but a team) and at least 8-10 passionate RP'ers. I think that can be done, but for that to be done more of the CWA guys are going to have to speak up

Re: 2019 State of CWA Address

Excuse me for wading in as I'm not a participant in CWA but rather in FWA, but I have experience in situations like these from my past forum.

I came here from E-Wrestling News, a forum that for most of the time I was there had more than one e-fed. 2 for the most part, 3 for a good chunk and there were periods when people tried getting more off the ground but it just didn't work out and they fell flat on their faces. I think at one point there was 7 active e-feds on the site (yes, SEVEN). Some of these managed to be active by having different gimmicks associated to them, for example there was an e-fed called BWA that was for tag teams only. It worked and was very active and successful for a couple of years because it had a hook.

So did multiple e-feds work? For a period, yes. But that was attributed to there being a huge boom in interest, enough writers to cover the multiple feds and enough people interested. Some users had as many as 5 or more characters participating in multiple feds. As I mentioned, most of the feds that tried getting off the ground just folded pretty quickly but the main 3; EWNCW (the original and first on the forum and the one which was there at the start and still there at the end of the forum's life, which I was head writer of for most of it's tenure), JBW and HWA coexisted alongside each other for a good chunk, perhaps 2 or 3 years, and all 3 were very active throughout this period. HWA lasted a period of 4/5 years (one of the head writers is now here in WC), JBW lasted officially about 6 years but for about 4 of these years was inactive, and EWNCW was there from the beginning to the end, so a period of close to 10 years.
We also had a 4th e-fed (which lasted 4/5 years) that was hugely successful; the WWE e-fed. This was another e-fed that was able to be hugely successful due to having a gimmick where each participant would have to pick a real wrestler (from any company, or even a legend) and then you'd role play as that wrestler in the fed. So I was Chris Jericho for example so I role played as Jericho. This fed was arguably the most successful on EWN at one time and this ran alongside the traditional e-feds we had for a long time. The head writer for that fed coincidentally followed me to this forum from EWN.

This is a fairly large forum I find, with a larger member-base than EWN had, so I think 2 e-feds could coexist, but it all comes down to how much of a demand there is. If it's there and you have a creative team behind it that's willing to put in the work and effort to keep the ball rolling then sure, it's possible. But in the time I've been active on WC I've barely noticed the CWA as being a hugely active e-fed, not in comparison to FWA at least. FWA seems to be pretty active for the most part and the team behind it are pushing it along nicely to keep things ticking over. I may view it like this since I'm an active part of FWA so perhaps I'm being harsh on CWA there.

All in all running multiple feds on the same forum is hard work. There needs to be enough demand for it, there needs to be enough writers to cover both feds, and whether you like it or not the two (or however many it is) feds ARE in direct competition with each other to get talent, writers, participants, whatever.
So in conclusion, if there's enough demand for it and if there's a team out there that want CWA to continue and want to make a go of it then by all means do so. Have at it. But if the demand isn't there then the logical step to take would be to put it to rest and pool resources into one e-fed. I assume that there's nothing to say that the fed can't be started back up, or even a new e-fed to start up, later down the line if interest picks up.

As for merging the two feds, be that in keyfabe or not, I would advise caution. I've gone through too many fed merges, trying to co-work with other feds and so on in my time to know that backstage politics (yes, they exist even here in the e-fed world) often get in the way and cause issues.

Re: 2019 State of CWA Address

Like hell I'm sitting back and letting the CWA die.

One last show and we can see where we feel on the subject, but I'm always for the CWA going on as long as there is a team to take care of it. I know I've pitched in to help every once in a while and so have a couple of others. I think if we can get a fully dedicated team to take over, CWA will be a lot better off.

If anything, it's entirely seemly this hiatus could be what CWA needs to regain interest. If Shade wants to take over, then you can have guys like Jon, Jimmy (whenever he can), and Smark help take care of things full time in addition to part time help like Harry (whenever he comes back), CK, and I.

I may not RP much in CWA, but if it's for the big show, Humanity is out of retirement one last time to give the fans what they need: A show.

Basically, what I'm saying is, if the CWA is going to go on, I'd like to be a part of it continuing on in a "behind-the-scenes" role.

Re: 2019 State of CWA Address

Sounds like a good response insofar.

Just wanted to clarify that the FWA team has no obligation to make CWA a second brand or anything like that. I was using the term 'merge with FWA' to say 'anyone who still wants to RP is free to join FWA' and I should've explained that better. Whether CWA dies, lives, or lives as FWA's awkward roommate if - and only if - they're willing, will depend on how much interest and how much people there are going into and directly afterwards the 'final' CWA show.

That being said, the amount of responses saying something akin to 'I'd be down for one last hurrah and/or see how that goes' is lovely, and makes me cautiously optimistic.

Re: 2019 State of CWA Address

My personal opinion is; no matter what, if it's the last show or not. We can't NOT do a 10 year show. After all ten fucking years is insane for an e-fed. Why wouldn't we mark the occasion?
The most amazing thing about this recent conversation is that I've learned AON is even more of a waste of space than I thought he was previously

Re: 2019 State of CWA Address

I'd be willing to hook up with Shade, Jimmy, Punk etc for the 10YA, I'm not reliable but I'm good when I'm "on" writing booking etc.

The CWA was (at the time) the best, most competitive fed I've ever been in. Guys like Cyrus and Shade are two boys I go way way way back with. We started fedding together and I've known these guys like 10 fuckin years hahahahah if this is coming full circle I'm fully fully in, I'll do as much as it takes to produce a 10YA show.

Fuck it, do the show. Who knows what happens after. AON is right.. We have to do this.

Chubs v Hatch again ey aon? Lol

The FWA mod staff would be happy to loan you guys any time and resources needed to help you get that show up.

We have Back in Business on the horizon which is the FWA's version of Wrestlemania. Perhaps we can coordinate things to where those shows took place the same weekend or something. Wolf and I can sort those details out if you guys are interested.

I'd be happy to create a poster and match cards for the event. I'd also be interested in bringing in Noah Stocke and Trevor Ocean for a final defense of the CWA Tag-Team Championship.

Yep. I was waiting until the WC Rumble was taken care of so I can have time to plan this out. Now that that's done, I'll start setting up the card and getting matches confirmed.

If y'all can head on over this this thread and fill out the template, that would be a good start to knowing who we're working with. Once I have a significant amount I'll wrangle up the booking team and we'll sort it all out.
