The 2018 WC Indy/Puro/Lucha Fave Five!

Here we are back again! Starting a bit early this year and I'm going to give enough time for lists.

Here's how it works: everybody PMs me with their five favorite Independent, Puroresu, and/or Lucha wrestlers of 2018 in order, with #1 being your favorite. The wrestlers will earn points as follows:

    #5 on somebody's list = 10 points
    #4 on somebody's list = 20 points
    #3 on somebody's list = 30 points
    #2 on somebody's list = 40 points
    #1 on somebody's list = 50 points

At the end the points will all be added up and I'll do a rundown of every superstar who earned points, culminating in the official WC fave five of the Independent, Lucha and Puroresu scene in 2017. Everyone not in the WWE is fair game. If they did time on the circuit in the calendar year of 2018, then you can put them on your list. This includes guys like Keith Lee, Matt Riddle, Fabbian Aichner, all the NXT UK guys and girls except for Noam Dar and Jack Gallagher, Street Profits, War Machine, EC3, Kassisu Ohno (appeared at EVOLVE), James Ellsworth (lol), Deonna Purrazzo, Io Shirai, Mia Yim, Chelsea Green, Walter (obviously lol) that either signed to WWE but did work before leaving or are signed to WWE and appear for other promotions. Pick from promotions such as ROH, TNA, CHIKARA, PWG, CZW, AAW, AIW, EVOLVE, SMASH, Beyond, Lucha Underground, Progress, DEFY, CMLL, New Japan, NOAH, AJPW, ECCW, GCW, DDT, Ice Ribbon, Stardom, SHINE, etc. All fair game. Remember tag teams are allowed as a nomination. This also may be the last year Impact is allowed as this year they started to regain their identity and fanbase.

Can a mod or Ed please edit the title to say The 2018 EC Indy/Puro/Lucha Fave Five? Completely forgot to finish the title.

    Re: The 2018

This should be fun. Very interested in the winners of this.

EDIT: I've sent in my picks. Not watched much US indies this year (mostly Evolve and CWF but that's it) so they are probably underrepresented in my list. Similar with Lucha guys but I've watched loads more this year than I have before and whilst none of them make my list, there are a few I did consider like Barbaro Cavernario, Fenix, Rush, etc.

Re: The 2018 WC Indy/Puro/Lucha Fave Five!

    Should be interesting.

my list probably won’t include any WWE U.K. guys because to me they aren’t independent wrestlers, but you’re right to give people the option as it’s a grey area.

3 people are definites because their my three top wrestlers of the year, the other two should be interesting.

Re: The 2018 WC Indy/Puro/Lucha Fave Five!

Having got back into indy wrestling this year wanted to try and pick my top 5 from around the world. I got to admit I would up being exclusively Puro bar from 1 with my list haha. It was just tough for me as I predominantly like Japanese wrestling. Would like to just give shout outs to YAMATO, WALTER, Brody King, Rush, ZSJ, Ospreay and Cobb who would have defo all been on my list if I had room haha.

List sent 3-5 was so hard for me to get down, but I got it done. I'm pretty sure some people might not know the people I choose outside of Zero, Shake and Ed most likely.

I am honestly looking forward to the results here though I think I have a pretty good idea who will be among the top 5.

Surprised to see Hyper Misao... not a bad thing though

The dudes I know of - all solid. Like them all really. Never really watched Gibson, Mambo or Allin. Mambo looks super interesting... is he a comedic wrestler? I also want to watch the Allin match in that GIF, what was it?

Taguchi will probably always make this list for me as long as he is active. He is my favourite comedic wrestler and the fact he isn't involved in long title feuds is really helping him. He's not a title guy but he's someone you can use for a few solid matches here and there. All hail the man who was abandoned by his parents... raised by horses and subsequently abandoned by them...

It's a four way from EVOLVE 64. He is against Fred Yehi, Tony Nese and Chris Dickinson. Can't find a link though (Dammit, Gabe).

I'm familiar with all the others except Chuck Mambo. Only seen one matches of his and wasn't a fan.

Darby Allin vs. Fred Yehi vs. Tony Nese vs. Chris Dickinson from EVOLVE 64, not actually from 2018 but this really exemplifies who Allin is.
