    That was my first thought!

    Seattle Dragons sounds pretty cool.
    Everything will surely be alright.

So they signed Landry Jones the other day, also Ryan Mallett too.

Something tells me XFL could be signing a couple of former NFL stars too.

Landry Jones and Ryan Mallett? lol. Just keep signing quarterbacks who played at colleges that used to be in the old SWEC.

I'm still going to be surprised if it lasts more than a season or two.

And I'd say that's being optimistic, given how XFL went last time. And how AAF went.
    Everything will surely be alright.

AAF isn't really comparable. They started way too soon without any real financial backing or plan set in stone. Then when they managed to get financial backing, the guy pulled a 180 and got too much power, shutting down the entire league because NFL wouldn't budge on a deal.

The XFL already has the financial backing of Vince McMahon, his penchant for Public Relations, and the ability to hire some of the greatest front office players out there.

Even if XFL only lasts one season, they'll still at the very least FINISH their first season. Don't know why you would want it to fail either, just because you hate Vince. It's a great opportunity for players who aren't exactly NFL ready or are just not cut out for the NFL anymore.

Could hopefully become the equivalent of the USFL or even the AFL. I'm probably being incredibly optimistic though.

Well, I never said I hope it fails. I just said I'm pretty sure it will. And hard.

But some logos better than Madden custom team ones might help.
    Everything will surely be alright.

I hope it succeeds. It would be a great avenue for reclamation projects, supposed busts, undrafted talent and guys on their way out to slowly build up/wind down their careers. It would employ more coaches and give some new ideas and place to take hold.

I don't want a watered down NFL. I just really want to see competitive games by guys that are hungry to play and prove themselves. I think if the right mix of conservative spending and roster management, spring football could realistically work on an ESPN2 type sporting event. It has a lot going against it, but as long as it doesn't try to compete with the NFL a major risk could be mitigated.

XFL invites are going out, and so far the names are pretty interesting. Here's a list of players either invited to the XFL Draft or have had a tryout for the league:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...Nw-8/htmlview#

Arguably the biggest name on that list is one Robert Meachem, wide reciever for the Super Bowl winning Saints.

    Good catch.

Looks like the XFL really is looking for NFL castaways who could use either a second wind or are not being pursued by teams atm.

Some of those names could bring quite a bit of notoriety if they're picked up. I for one actually like that.

I think if Nicks signs with the league it shows the XFL aren't playing around.

It'll hopefully get him another chance at getting back in the NFL if he performs well enough.
