Thinking of guys who will probably get a lot of praise but are in my blindspot - Jon Gresham. Liked the Lethal PPV match, liked his matches with Yehi from a couple years ago. What else do I need to see? I'd figure going ROH instead of EVOLVE doesn't give him tonnes of opportunity to show his wares.

He's a blindspot for me too. I think Beyond Wrestling is where his best stuff lies, I've just never seen it. Looking through cagematch he has matches with Sabre Jr, Hero, Thatcher, Tracy Williams, Quack to name a few.

One thing I have noticed so far is that there is much less consensus than I was expecting, and much more disparity in opinions. There are some threads with everyone piling in to agree wrestler X is great, but probably more threads with the OP pleading their case of why they think wrestler Y is great, only for the next guy to come in and say actually wrestler Y stinks.

It's not a bad thing at all, but lets use it to have better discussions about the strengths and weaknesses of these workers. What is wrestler Y good at what? What does he suck at?

Funnily enough I was only thinking last night that these threads are a great example of how stupid the opinion is that 'WC just hate wrestler x' or there's an echo chamber here where we all share the same opinion. It's pretty obvious some of us are worlds apart on how we feel about a wrestler.

joshi enthusiasts - what has Meiko Satomura done of note recently? thought she was great in the MYC but as per usual lack of top level workers meant there was a ceiling there. Have her and Aja Kong had a match in recent years?

I can't speak for Joshi on the whole, but she had an excellent match with Kong in 2016 (probably had others since then). She won wXw's womens tournament in October, had a really good match with Kay Lee Ray in EVE this year, she's had intergender matches in OTT and Fight Club Pro with the likes of Pete Dunne which you might like.

I can add in her 2016 that comes to mind as well if you want? Meiko I always enjoy her Matches with bigger ladies like Hiroyo and Chihiro over the years, she gets to unleash hell because they can take her stiffness while giving it back to her.

If by doing time you mean "fled to México" that is correct.

Re: WC's Best Workers Of the Late 2010s

Popular wrestlers I was expecting to have threads by now:

    - Braun Strowman

    - The Revival

    - Drew MacIntyre

    - Finn Balor

    - Sami Zayn

    - Seth Rollins

    - Ember Moon

    - Luke Harper

    - Mustafa Ali

    - Randy Orton

    - Rusev

    - Samoa Joe

    - Shinsuke Nakamura

    - Brian Kendrick

    - Buddy Murphy

    - Cedric Alexander

    - Jack Gallagher

    - Adam Cole

    - Bobby Fish

    - Keith Lee

    - The Velveteen Dream

    - Io Shirai

    - Toni Storm

    - ACH

    - Trevor Lee

    - Pentagon Jr

    - Rich Swann

    - Tessa Blanchard

    - Austin Aries

    - Jeff Cobb

    - Juice Robinson

    - Michael Elgin

    - Tomoaki Honma

    - Dragon Lee

    - Marty Scurll

Not that I am saying they are worthy of threads, more that I thought they had more favor.

I guess my message to those who are wanting to participate in the big year-end ballot would be PARTICIPATE NOW. Make threads, posts opinions, watch some shit. If you don't contribute at all this this sub-forum project and then submit a ballot, that's almost a troll job. Even if you Baron Corbin is your favorite wrestler and you're afraid he'll get shat on, atleast put up your stand and pitch your case! What have you got to lose? And if you are thinking of doing a full Top 50, think about who the lower guys on your list could be!

Re: WC's Best Workers Of the Late 2010s

There's a few names up there that I was considering making threads for, Dragon Lee especially jumps out as someone who will make my top 50, as will Io and most likely Juice if he has another G1 that I enjoy. But there's quite a number of people there that have had one good year (like buddy or Tessa for example) and that's it which wouldn't be strong enough reason for them to get onto this.

I'll say this with a straight face, Kenny Omega deserves a thread more than 80% of the names on there and I'm a big critic of his.

man, totally forgot Omega and he was the guy that made me think to post such a list. Duh!

I feel like I may the guy who makes his thread, but I have only been cherry-picking his best matches so don't quite have an accurate picture of him on the regular.

Okay Kenny. Give Ed his account back now.

He probably does deserve a thread. If he does, he'd be in the top 20 for sure.

I'll make a few threads later but Omega definitely won't be one of them. For every great match he has there's 10 where he's awful and jerking himself off for 30 minutes with his brand of melodrama.

Re: WC's Best Workers Of the Late 2010s

SO we're 6 months no away from the end of the year, are people still engaged with this? I know I am.

Those looking to participate - now feels like a good time to start thinking where who falls where and have a bit of a recap on some guy's cases. Also worth thinking about contenders who do not yet have a thread but you could see being a low-hanging through vote. I'm sure all the Top #25 guys will already be being discussed and are clear, but what about the #30-#50 for those looking to do a full ballot?

And for those wanting to get in on the vote but haven't been active in the threads, my message to you is - PARTICIPATE! This is all about discussion, even if it is agreeing with the general consensus (or being unpopular!). If you put in a ballot but havent made a single post that's almost a rib on what this is all about.

I'm going to start making an effort to watch some of the stuff recommended that I haven't seen over the next few months, so the more recommendations people throw up, the better.

Re: WC's Best Workers Of the Late 2010s

I really need to work on sharing this out more on twitter to see if it can attract some attention outside of the site, but I'm still super pumped for this.

I just went through the nominations list and jotted down 53 names that I'm seriously considering for my top 50 (and scanning through it's revealed some ppl that strangely don't have threads yet so I'll make some more now). There's a clear top dozen in my mind that are ahead of the rest of the pack, and then about 35 other names that are there or there abouts and then names like Shibata and Lesnar that I'm only considering for the bottom few spaces on my list.

Rewatching stuff is gonna have to wait until August because G1 time is upon us and it's hard enough to keep up just with that.

Stuff on my hit list to check out:
    - Various people in king of trios like British Strong Style, Meiko Satomura, AJ Styles just for a flavour of how they worked in a different environment.
    - A deeper dive on Hechicero
    - The Thatcher Evolve title run that I hated in real time but now I love him
    - Probably owe it to Zero to watch a bit more joshi
    - AJ Styles in New Japan again as I've largely forgotten it other than a few matches
