I'm optimistically hoping, but I definitely agree.

The officiating all post season for all games has been a mess. And that last game with the blatant slewfoot, and numerous headshots? Just awful. Not only that, but dangerous play.

However, that game still should not have been like that. The top line of Marchand, Bergy, and Pasta is either red hot and firing on all cylinders.....Or ice cold, and doing nothing. Pasta, okay..I get he was still injured early in the post, and that's why he was fanning shots and hit or miss. But he's been more consistent now, but.....Not taking shots. At all, almost. He's passing in situations he should absolutely be going for it in. Nervous? Unsure of himself? Still injured? Maybe. But I'll give him a bit of leeway given all the above. Bergy........he's doing similar in the passing when no need, but he's also missing some easy ones, and hesitating a lot when right up in the goal. Not sure what the deal with that is. And Marchand? He's all over the place, literally. Like he's lost some games, and just doing his own thing. Where are the shorties? Where are the fast wrap around goals? He's not taking shots, either.

    Shoot. The. Puck.

If the refs are going to blatantly ignore half the stuff and make things have momentum against you, don't play conservative and soft. Also where is the energy? How often were they all over Rask? How often are they taking headshots? Drop the mits, and knock one of those guys around some. Hit back.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Boston did literally nothing for 3 periods, so that was cool.

Entire deciding factor each game this post season? Pasta, Bergy, and Marchand playing well and scoring. They played like absolute garbage. And the obvious happened as a result.

The absolute worst part is losing to a team who's never won a championship before.
    Everything will surely be alright.

No disrespect to the Blues team Shawn. It’s quite the story. To go from the bottom of the conference, one of the leagues worst, replacing your coach and putting a rookie in the hot spot to then squeezing into the playoffs and playing scrappy and full of heart the entire post season and then hoisting the cup. You can’t write anything better than that. Binnington carries that game and O’Reilly and Pietrangelo deserve to hold that cup, not the Bruins.

I've got no disrespect for the Blues, at all. It is the Bruins who played horrible tonight.

Blues wanted it more, clearly. The top line of Boston dubbed the "Perfection Line" played poorly, and Rask had little help.

After not watching hockey for a long time, I'm still glad I got to see my team make it all the way.

At the very least, the silver lining is that the Maple Leafs now have the longest cup drought in the NHL.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Cool to see the Blues finally win the Cup, and against Boston no less.

Didn't realize they had 4 players from Saskatchewan, and Bozak is actually from Regina here. Cool. Guess the Cup will be spending a decent amount of time in Saskatchewan this summer....

I'd think it would be better to be etched in history as the team that "helped" the Blues finally get over the hump. At least the Bruins will always be a footnote to that story, which also happened to be the best one in the NHL this year.

If they'd made it all the way they would have been skating around hoisting the cup. The dig at the Leafs is pretty cute too. For someone that just got into hockey, you certainly have the Bruins fan mentality down pat.

Beating the Bruins in their own building in a 7th game is pretty much the best tasting icing on top of the first time Stanley Cup cake. The fact that they pretty much dominated the game from start to finish somehow made it even better. Aside from the Sasky boys, I think there were 9 other Canadians on the team, so it's a good day for the red and white.

Anyhow, in this shit show of a season, it's fitting that a team that was dead last in January ended up winning the Cup. Congrats to the Blues~!

Back into, as I mentioned. I did watch when I was young. =P

As for the footnote part? I'm not sure who in the world would want to be a footnote in history. I can't imagine in any sport, or any fandom, anyone being happy to help another team get their first championship. That just seems counter to the very nature of the competition.
    Everything will surely be alright.

Definitely a strange season. And a strange playoffs. But as a neutral, it ended up being good shit.

i saw a tweet about the Cup coming to Saskatchewan so I had a look at the roster. I always expect any NHL roster to be be pretty full of Canadians. Usually at least half. But this is like.... 19 out of 27 being Canadian.

Weird note - I did a bit of digging a year or two ago and found that Saskatchewan was fourth out of Canadian provinces for producing NHLers. Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta are ahead. Found that a bit surprising.

I gotta hand it to O'Reilly, Binnington and the Blues as a whole, they deserve it. Binnington stood on his head and kept them in that game by himself, then the Bruins threw up all over themselves. I was out after the 2nd goal in the first period. It was obvious the Bruins didn't have it and after the Blues withstood the storm, it was over. Marchand going for a line change while Pietrangelo was skating by him with the puck said it all. There was 8 seconds left in the period. Good for them. 52 years is a long time to wait.

I don’t feel bad for Boston, but I do have very sincere feelings for David Backes. He was the Blues ride or die for so long and to watch his current team, from the press box, get smacked by them must have sucked. Very happy for the Blues faithful. You’ll never forget that first Cup feeling.
