For an angle remembered quite fondly, it's easy to forget the Eddie/Chyna angle lasted barely 5 months at best.

I voted for Chyna — why I mentioned her, I suppose — because she was a unique physical specimen and her winning a male championship is still one of the more unique storylines WWE has ever done, even if it's a low-hanging-fruit one also. Even if WWE didn't view her in a progressive manner, one could argue that she was portrayed in a progressive manner. By besting males, she was sort of an early example of the WWE prioritizing a female over a male. Now we have an era where females are given main event spots, etc. Not saying Chyna's career directly caused that but she was one of the first to receive a version of that treatment. WWE mostly sexualized females before, during, and after Chyna's era. She was the first one, IMO, to really buck that trend as a "this woman is a fucking badass and watch TF out." Her portrayal more than her in-ring or mic skills are why I voted for her.

Sorry for the double post but I wanted to ask since Trish was revealed as the top female: Did anyone vote for Stephanie? I did not but considered it for about two seconds.

Re: WC's Greatest Superstars in WWE History - THE COUNTDOWN!

Chyna didn't cross my mind when thinking about this but she was definitely a popular act for the company in the late 90s and is one of the most noteworthy women they've ever had. She is someone who's legacy is greatly effected by her personal life because if she had been a bit more stable, hadn't dabbled in porn and more importantly hadn't been Triple H's ex, then she would of been in the HOF years ago and would be hailed as one of the most important women in the company's history with every current woman on the roster citing her as an influence because 'Chyna proved women could do exactly what the men could do, you're not defined by your gender'. It is harsh that she won't get her due credit IRL while statues are erected for Trish and Lita as pioneers of the womens revolution.

My argument against her would be though that she didn't really have any trailblazing effect on things because it then took 15 years after she left for womens wrestling to be taken seriously in the company and like Jim points out she didn't really put any other women over to helps things out so she wasn't really having a good effect on womens wrestling at the time. Not to mention a lack of good matches and promos.

No for Stephanie because as a wrestler she did very little compared to her dad and brother.

As an on screen personality I could see the argument even though I detest her.

25 is a tight limit to find room for Steph. She is actually an amazing 'condescending to her employees' heel authority figure. Problem is that is a role that greatly has more of a negative effect on WWE than a beneficial one. She emasculates so many wrestlers in the company and very rarely does it end with the wrestler getting one over on her.

I will go ahead and confirm Steph got no votes. Far more shocking: Shane got no votes.

Re: WC's Greatest Superstars in WWE History - THE COUNTDOWN!

Jake Roberts was my #26, and I really wanted to bump him just to include him but I just couldn't justify it.
Christian I think if he hadn't ever gone to TNA and WWE had actually pushed him when he started to really get some momentem he could have surpassed Edge but they pulled him back and he left and because of that I don't think he deserves a top 25, but where he ended up is ok. He's one of my all time faves so I'm glad to see him.
Billy Graham I never watched much of so it was hard for me to put him very high since without having lived through his time all I've got to go on is what is left to go back and watch so I couldn't find a spot for him but like Christian where he ended up is good.

Trish is the only woman I considered, I think she was just a little better than Lita, and the fact that she went from Zero in wrestling to being one of the top female wrestlers when female wrestlers didn't need to wrestle puts her up here so she's in the right spot.
Miz is the first guy I voted for to show up! I had him at #19, and that may be a little high, but I don't think it's any doubt he's a future hall of famer and he'll get more title runs to come so maybe my vote was a little preemptive.
Beniot... well since legacy is one of the things we're taking into account here his is zero as far as WWE is concerned so that knocks him out of the running in my book.

And as for Chyna since she was brought up she's out of the running in my book for the same reason as Benoit, she's been pretty much disregarded in WWEs books at this point. Not to the level of Benoit but close.

Well that's just not true. Even if the WWE doesn't officially hype him, he's still fully shown on the WWE Network and is directly responsible for the WWE getting far more serious about altering things by making wrestling safer and enforcing the testing. His death changed a ton of things which in itself is a legacy in some odd way.

It might not be a GOOD legacy... but a legacy nonetheless.

And even as someone who still loves watching Benoit matches... I can't even say he left a real good in ring legacy because his style likely played a big role in what he did, and it's shortened the careers of many who have employed it. Most notably Daniel Bryan.

    Spoiler:

Curt Hennig may just be the perfect superstar. Mr. Perfect was one of the first heels in the WWF to show you could put over the babyfaces and still look good doing it. This would inspire future heels including Dolph Ziggler who'd continue to steal the show and sell in entertaining fashion for his opponents.

I'm a bit surprised Batista isn't higher being one of the pinnacles of the Ruthless Aggression Era. A top prospect that came up in one of the most dominating factions in WWE history Evolution, the heir apparent to Triple H following his departure from the group, along with John Cena was one of the two franchises of the Brand Extension and one the guys to really establish SmackDown as a true competitor to the Raw brand.

I think Big Show's longest lasting contribution to WWE is in fact how long he's been around. This nearly-two-decade-going-strong giant has eclipsed some of WWE largest rising stars and franchises and is still here to remind he can still add to the product. Big Show is back to show us that WWE still relies on Big Show to fill whatever role they need him in and sometimes that's the most valuable commodity to have.

Re: WC's Greatest Superstars in WWE History - THE COUNTDOWN!

Wahey, one of my votes have popped up.

Besides me always being an unashamed Batista mark, I think he's well worth a top 25 spot. He might have only been at the very top for 5 years but he was never out of the main event scene but for injuries and never felt irrelevant. Headlined a Wrestlemania with Triple H and two other world title matches against Cena and Undertaker. Big draw as he was constantly one of the top merch sellers. In kayfabe accomplishments, he never lost to Triple H during a time when he was most dominant. Probably has the best non-Brock win ratio against the Undertaker (don't quote me on that). Multiple time world champion, very few clean losses.

He's also had some great feuds. The feud with Triple H is among the best feuds WWE has ever done. Undertaker feud ruled. The Cena feud ruled. Rey feud ruled. The Eddie feud was getting there until Eddie died.

Big Show was one of the last names to drop off my list so I'm glad he got a fair bit of love.

Perfect was a late cut and I'm happy to see him there. #32 seems like a good spot for him.

Looking back at my list I can see why I should have waited instead of rushing it. I have both Batista and Big Show on it but I rated Show too high, while I could have easily bumped Big Dave higher. I agree with Shock, he well deserves a top 25 spot.

I'll always love the big man. Yes. Big Show is basically a running gag with all his turns outta nowhere ( ) and many very stupid angles, but I think he has one thing goin' for him, only very few others have. He is just full of charisma and heart and you can really feel that he freakin' loves the business and his position in it. (at least nowadays)

Show will always be my favorite "Big Man"...even though I ranked some (considered "Big Man") higher in this list.

Re: WC's Greatest Superstars in WWE History - THE COUNTDOWN!

Perfect was on my first list but as I continued to think about things he ultimately ended up being the last guy I cut. Happy he got the votes he did though. He really was a superb performer and one of the most notable midcarders in WWE history.

Batista had to get a vote from me. He's one of my favorites but more importantly he ticks all the boxes for what I was looking for. Good charisma, good matches, made a big splash when he ascended to the top, was extremely over and will have a lasting legacy as one of the pillars of the Ruthless Agression Era. Even with his poorly received return, he ultimately put over Bryan and most of us still clamor to see him back.

Show is awesome, and easily the best giant WWE has ever had as far as his ability in the ring. There are definitely times when he has been very boring to me but he deserves respect for his contributions and I have to say I definitely see him as one of the great superstars in WWE history.

I love Show and wish he got into the top 25 or 30. He can work any side of a feud well (face or heel), is a decent in-ring worker, has good mic skills, put over A LOT of people in his WWF/E career and can fill any void on the card, in any division really. And he makes losses to smaller dudes at least somewhat believable, which I always felt was a weak point for people like Mark Henry or Khali. He doesn't have the superstar glow but he is just all-around really good.

As you can see, a lot of people voted for Batista, but no one put him particularly high. That's been the difference maker in a lot of these rankings. Some guys shoot up thanks to one or two really favorable votes. Then guys like Batista just don't have anyone that puts them top ten and they suffer.
