Re: WC's Fave Fives Project Continues~!

I think you could make the case that for a while it was.

But it's been quite a while since I've heard much of anyone talk about it. Especially given the popularity and love John Wick has gotten.

But for someone who is a big fan of cyberpunk stuff, and enjoyed the nods and inspiration it got from Ghost In The Shell + Serial Experiments: Lain, it's definitely a fun series.
    Everything will surely be alright.

I think The Matrix sequels really affected the long-term reception of the first unfortunately. Was such a wild fucking ride when it came out.

Coincidentally, it's the first's 20th anniversary this year and a bunch of cinemas are doing 4K restored screenings. Going to one next month, should be great

The sequels absolutely suck, but the Matrix was one of the best films of the 90s.

The John Wick trilogy really seems to have given him a bit of a cult career resurgence.

First Matrix is good, the others are trash. Speed doesn’t hold up at all but it was sure fun at the time.

Re: WC's Fave Fives Project Continues~!

The second Matrix was so so, but had one of the best fight scenes in the series.

The third I quite enjoyed, and Animatrix was okay.

The first is obviously leaps and bounds the best, though. No question.

I still haven't seen any John Wick movies.

    Also, Constantine was fun.
    Everything will surely be alright.

I watched that new Netflix romcom movie with Randall Park (the mrs’s choice) and Keanu had a very funny cameo in that, if anyone is in to that kind of film.

He had a good role in Somethings Gotta Give, too.

It's too bad that most of the discussion about Reeves' films is going to take place in here rather than the actual thread for it but I guess that's whatever at this point.

I find it interesting that nobody has brought up his excellent work in River's Edge and My Own Private Idaho, though I do understand that they're much less known than his popular fare.

I like those two movies, but I'm a big fan of Permanent Record and The Replacements will probably find a way onto my list. He's made more than a few good movies. He'll never win an Oscar, but his movies in general are fun.

Could I suggest a Michael Keaton list, one no one else has/it hasn’t already been done?

In honor of his excellent turn in Far From Home I'd also like to throw Jake Gyllenhaal's name into the ring.
