Thread: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

Re: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

July's classic drop was additional ECW Supershows. The shows uploaded were:

    1996

Just Another Night - Pretty much just a fancam that was released as a traditional event. I found nothing worth watching on this. It does include Sabu vs 2 Cold Scorpio, which may entice some.

Big Ass Extreme Bash - An awesome Juvi vs Mysterio match. Cactus Jack's ECW farewell.

A Matter of Respect - A couple of good midcard matches with Jericho vs Mikey and Douglas vs Scorpio TV Title match.

Hardcore Heaven - Probably ECW's best show of 1996. Featured a great RVD vs Sabu match. Other solid matches included Mikey vs Douglas, Pitbull #2 vs Jericho, and Raven vs Gordy. The ECW debut of BARON VON STEVIE~!

Heatwave - My pick for the best match in ECW history with the Douglas vs Jericho vs Scorpio vs Pitbull #2 TV Title match. Eliminators vs Sabu/Mikey was also good.

The Doctor is In - A show that's better on paper than in reality. Jericho vs Scorpio under delivered, but was still solid.

Natural Born Killaz - A shockingly good RVD vs Doug Furnas match.

November to Remember - For the biggest show of the year, it wasn't very good. Has the epic Taz/Sabu confrontation. Mikey vs Candido was a solid match. Debut of the Blue World Order.

    1997

Crossing the Line Again - A great Eliminations vs RVD/Sabu match. Bubba Ray's heel turn to unite The Dudley Boyz. Old Man Funk and Old Man Tommy Rich proves that they can still deliver.

Cyberslam - A solid Sabu vs Candido match. Sandman reunites with his son. Nothing bad.

Uhh idk. Probably depends on the word. They tend to blur out homophobic signs so anything like that would probably be censored. More tame swears would likely be safe.

Re: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

This had been rumoured for so long I gave up hope it would ever happen.

The Drew drop will be very interesting because I don't remember watching much of his Evolve run. Keith Lee's batting average in Evolve was very good and they'd be fools not to put the mania weekend Ricochet match up which I thought was great. Eager to see if they include Lee Vs Darby Allin which was great and would get a lot of buzz online if it was released today given both men have turned into stars now. The holy grail is going to be putting up the Matt Riddle/Chris Hero matches on the network.

While not the best match they had together, Walter and Ilja had a great match on Chapter 92. The rest of that show though is rough, they're starting with a weak era show to put up from Progress, but I get not being eager to put up a show that has Sabre Jr, Ospreay, Scurll or Travis Banks on.

What a shame the wXw drops are so weak. I get that they're trying to put over Thatcher by picking Ambition 11, but Ambition is a dry show that won't impress people even with Walter/Thatcher on there. Those Ringkampf tags would of been better to put on there, but I guess there's the problem that David Starr is so frequent in anything that was great about wXw over the last few years that they don't want to touch it either atm. The shame for Jim too is that THIS AIN'T THE END OF ME won't be the edited music for those shows. Matches that would make sense to include later on are the Walter/Ilja matches, the Ringkampf Vs British Strong Style 6 man from 2018 and some of Tommy End's work.

LMAO at the ICW show going up being the one Jeff Jarrett was GM for the evening. He always wins. No interest in that garbage fed being on the network.

I'm surprised they're even touching ICW considering what's been going in with them recently. That said, they've been quietly saying that they would be going on WWE Network for at least a couple of years. I'd honestly only be interested in catching some of the older stuff they did back when I used to attend their shows otherwise not really fussed.

Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre) vs. Chris Hero (Kassius Ohno)

    EVOLVE 37 – January 10, 2015
Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre) vs. Ricochet

    EVOLVE 44 – May 31, 2015
Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre) vs. Roderick Strong

    EVOLVE 55 – January 24, 2016
Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre) & Johnny Gargano vs. Chris Hero (Kassius Ohno) & Tommy End (Aleister Black)

Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre) vs. Matt Riddle

    EVOLVE 80 – March 30, 2017
Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre) vs. Matt Riddle
    EVOLVE 81 – March 31, 2017
Keith Lee vs. Donovan Dijak (Dominik Dijakovic)

    EVOLVE 84 – May 20, 2017
Keith Lee vs. Donovan Dijak (Dominik Dijakovic)

    EVOLVE 90 – August 11, 2017
    Keith Lee vs. Timothy Thatcher

    EVOLVE 91 – August 12, 2017
Matt Riddle vs. Keith Lee vs. WALTER vs. Tracy Williams

    EVOLVE 94 – October 14, 2017
    Keith Lee vs. Matt Riddle

    EVOLVE 96 – December 9, 2017
    Keith Lee vs. WALTER
With the exception of a four-way with Tracy Williams and a couple with Chris Hero, there was a clear emphasis on selecting matches with other WWE signed talents.

I don't know what their plans are going forward with the EVOLVE library, but if they're set on releasing more Best Ofs, a Ricochet one would make a lot of sense, which could explain the absence if the Ricochet/Lee match.

It's a bit old news now, but the classic content for August was another ten episode dump of Superstars 1993 to bring us to mid May. Highlights include King of the Ring qualifying matches including one of the eventual three between Doink the Clown vs Mr. Perfect (Other qualyfying matches include Tatanka vs Giant Gonzales, Crush vs HBK, and Razor vs Tito Santana) that ended up being a fun trilogy. Besides that, there's a Bam Bam Bigelow vs Owen Hart match that sounds decent and a six man tag of Money Inc and Mr. Hughes vs The Nasty Boys and Kamala that would be The Nasty Boys' final match in the WWE.

Re: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

Additional indie shows are slated to be uploaded to the Network today:

wXw Toronto (Daisuke Sekimoto vs. WALTER)
PROGRESS Chapter 77: Pumpkin Spice PROGRESS (Zack Sabre Jr vs WALTER)
EVOLVE 125 (Austin Theory vs Kyle O'Reilly)
ICW Shug’s Hoose Party 5 Night 1 (BT Gunn vs WALTER)

That WALTER/ZSJ match is well worth people's time.

Re: WWE Network General Discussion Thread

Seems the WWE Network may be dropping additional indie events every Saturday now. Today they uploaded:

EVOLVE 124 (The Street Profits and The Velveteen Dream vs The Unwanted)
ICW Fear & Loathing XI (British Strong Style vs Noam Dar, Wolfgang, and BT Gunn)
PROGRESS Chapter 83: Remove Child Before Ironing (Ilja Dragunov vs Timothy Thatcher)
wXw We Love Wrestling (I don't recognize anyone, but the event is just from August 2020)

Also, later on in the month, most likely third week, the classic content drop will be ten episodes of Velocity. I imagine it will be the first ten from 2002?

WWE is getting slow with the classic content. 10 episodes is cheap. At this rate....a great copy of Benoit vs Regal from Velocity is going to take another 4 years

It's smart business in all fairness. Drop it all at once, viewers binge it quicker before dropping their sub. Release it in batches, viewers sub for longer, therefore make more money.
