Already some good stuff up there. I'm glad Shock was able to fit Bass/Santana on his list, it was the last match I dropped off of mine and I really hated to see it go.

I believe that Honky Tonk Man vs Steamboat match was close to my list too, but I'm not sure.

Naturally, there's a lot of matches here I haven't seen too.

re: The Greatest Match Of The Year - 1987 - The - We Have A Winner

Hogan vs Orndorff is fun, expected that to get some votes. Shock, where did you watch MX vs Garvin/Windham? That sounds rad.

I think in future maybe open it up to people handing in ballots between 10-25 and weight them on how big the ballot is? Might encourage more to participate as they won't feel they have to watch 25+ matches to take part, while still making sure those who do have a bigger say in the outcome. What does everyone else think?

Shame some of these aren't online. Other shit that sounds great that I wanted to watch but couldn't find online (FUCK IT ALL):

    - Lawler & Dundee vs Original Midnight Express for the AWA Tag Titles
    - Bockwinkel vs Zbyszko - Larry Z's first retirement match I think? Or atleast his last in AWA
    - Bockwinkel vs Hennig in another big match between them
    - Hennig vs Wahoo McDaniel - could only find the strap match, which is passable, but they had a big title match a week later
    - Chris Adams vs Terry Taylor with the famous Taylor heel turn
    - Murdoch vs Williams, where one of them wrestles with a cast and they both try to snap each others radius

Do you know the dates of these? I just grabbed a comp of random shit and I'm fairly certain I've got these matches on it. I'll check when I get back and UL them if they're the right ones.

I think Hennig vs McDaniel is 12/27, or atleast December sometime. They had a strap match that month too but that is not the one. Taylor vs Adams is 3/5.

If they are the right matches and you uploaded them, that would be amazing.

Some of these matches with no links sound cool. Garvins vs MX and Dusty/Williams vs Gilbert/Murdoch? Where have people watched these matches.

Jim, can I assume you also voted for the Hogan vs Race blow-off?

Surprised already at the amount of HTM. I thought it was universally acknowledged that he sucked.

He pretty much did but with Steamboat & Savage could get a great match out of a broomstick back in the day, without giving too much away I think we've seen the last of him.

Yeah, but I have the MSG blow-off instead of the Boston one. I imagine they're virtually the same match though.

Honestly, Savage and Steamboat didn't get much out of Honky. Steamboat managed to get one good match out of Honky (MSG June?) and out of all of their hundreds of matches, the only Savage/Honky match that was good was their SNME 12 match. However, even then, it's mostly just good because of the gigantic angle.

    Honky flat out sucked.

Maybe for most boring IC champion. Nah, Honky's a guy that has a perfect title reign in terms of story, but man, it's a drag actually watching the matches.

I honestly never understood why they kept the title on him so long with tons of other potential IC champs around

I mentioned at the start that 25 would be too much. Change it to 10 and a hell of a lot more people would have gotten involved.

10 is not enough, you would still watch the same matches, we have always done 25 and had plenty of people doing it.

If 10 matches each isnt enough, 7 people doing it sure as hell isnt enough either.

I altready explained why we got 7 people, people didn't want to go as far back as 1987(Nash & Ed have both said that), and I didn't give enough time(should have give another 2 weeks), even with just 7 people we got over 70 matches.

Maybe you should check out the other threads before judging.

Or people were never going to be bothered with doing 25 matches. It's overkill. You could have given it another two years and not many more would have done it.

Do it with 10 and you'll get a lot more people doing it with a more definitive winner. 170 people have been online in the last 24 hours alone. Thats a tiny amount of votes received making your excuses look pathetic. 25 is a retarded amount to ask for every single year. What's next, 25 for March 2004?

    25 a year is overkill.
