re: Greatest WCW Match Ever - We Have A Winner

Would have felt pretty **** guilty if I didn't put Goldberg/DDP on my list, even if it was the absolute bottom. Really surprisingly great match.

Even though it didn't make my list I am stunned that Flair/Vader was so low. Great match.

The triple threat between DDP, Benoit and Raven is also very fun. Wasn't that close to my list though.

re: Greatest WCW Match Ever - We Have A Winner

    Clash Of The Champions XIX
    June 16th 1992
Brian Pillman & Jushin Liger vs Chris Benoit & Biff Wellington
I liked this match and it was very good but it was long way off from making the list.

    Beach Blast
    July 18th 1993
Sting & Davey Boy Smith vs Big Van Vader & Sid Vicious
This was a fine match but was never even considered for the list.

    The Great American Bash
    July 18th 1995
    Ric Flair vs Randy Savage
I loved this match because it's a great brawl and it didn't need a lot of foreign objects or blading to get the job done. Flair and Savage have great chemistry and it's almost impossible for them not to have a good match, and there was another match of theirs that almost made the list. This was the final match on my list and as it turns out, it shouldn't have made it at all because of an error when I was compiling my final list, so whoops.

    Halloween Havoc
    October 25th 1998
    WCW World Heavyweight Championship
    Goldberg© vs Diamond Dallas Page
This isn't a bad match but I feel it gets rated higher than it should because it's Goldberg in a good match and he's actually better than his rep suggests.

    August 20th 1990
The Midnight Express vs The Steiner Brothers
I would love to see this match because it sounds like a match that is guaranteed to be at least really good.

    Halloween Havoc
    October 27th 1990
    NWA World Tag Team Championship
Doom© vs Ric Flair & Arn Anderson
A really good match with four good workers that I really like and is a favorite of mine but I couldn't put it any higher than it was and it never came close to making the list.

    WCW Saturday Night
    November 13th 1993
Big Van Vader & Steve Austin vs Ric Flair & Arn Anderson
This is a great tag team match and wouldn't have even made it if it wasn't on a compilation set I was watching for the Flair/Vader match below. It's **** worth of four great workers just going out there and working their tails off for almost thirty minutes of relentless action. A clean or otherwise conclusive finish would probably have me putting it higher on the list, but circumstances dictated they went off the air with the match in progress and we didn't see a finish.

    Starrcade
    December 27th 1993
    WCW World Heavyweight Championship
Big Van Vader© vs Ric Flair
This should be higher because I've just noticed I forgot to put it on my list and it would have been pretty high on the list as well. It's Vader beating the crap out of Flair for twenty minute and Flair selling like crazy, which is pretty much the only way to go with a match like this where everyone 'knows' ahead of time who is winning, because it creates some level of doubt. But the one-sided nature doesn't detract from a great match.

    Uncensored
    March 15th 1998
    WCW United States Championship
    Pinfalls Count Anywhere
Diamond Dallas Page© vs Raven vs Chris Benoit
This was a highly entertaining brawl with lots of creative and wild spots but didn't quite make the list. It was a little depressing watching this at the time it happened because I was huge fan of Benoit and it seemed pretty obvious that Benoit was being put there in the role of the good worker who makes the stars of the program look good, and apparently Benoit felt the same because he supposedly confronted Raven over this at a Nitro a couple of weeks before, which surprised people at the time because Benoit had the rep of being quiet and not speaking out.

I'm not surprised nobody else picked those two tag matches I voted for, but I felt they deserved a little love.

That Pillman/Flair match is one I stumbled across when looking for some old flair stuff for the SOTM. It's a really nice little match.

And obviously that cactus nasty boys brawl is fantastic

Eddie vs. Otani was pretty close to my list. Glad to see it made at least one person's list.

It seems all the WarGames matches are been taken off youtube and dailymotion, I'm guessing this is because of the DVD coming out next year.

Sure it's a typo, but that Malenko match wasn't my number 2.

So happy that got some love

Meh, on the rewatch I preferred the Pillman reincarnation. Thought the crowd was terrible for the Clash match, and although the turn is memorable, I find the match a bit slow for me

re: Greatest WCW Match Ever - We Have A Winner

It's a shame obviously trolling lists can't be ignored. A bigger shame that the Luger/Flair match from Wrestle War isn't online because it's probably their best match together, but it does unfortunately get dragged down by the finish. An even bigger shame is the Liger/Pillman match from the Meadowlands not being online because that is a great match and is only slightly below their Superbrawl II match.
