They'll probably PR spin that they never wanted him or some shit. I have given up all hope of any more signings this window.

    Same.
Fudged up Sancho, missed out on Bale or any other winger instead of Sancho, missed out on Reguilon, missed out on any CB, striker, or literally any other player to strengthen the squad. PLUS we so far have managed to keep hold of several players who are dead weight. Lingard, Pereira, Jones, Smalling, Rojo, and there's little talk of any of them moving on.
We're going with what we've got it seems. Whether that will be enough to offer a sustained challenge to the likes of Chelsea, Spurs, Wolves, Everton and the rest of those fighting for 3rd and 4th? Who knows. It'll depend a lot on our first choice 11 maintaining fitness as we're still lacking strength in depth in key areas.

Thiago signing for Liverpool is a major coup. £20m with potentially £5m in add ond is an absolute steal for such an excellent player too. Bizarre how more clubs weren't in the running for him.

It sounds like the while "transfer saga" was nothing more than PR spin from the club, so.... likely.

Thiago to Liverpool for that amount of money is ridiculous. But like I said awhile back, a lot of clubs have been very leery of his recurring knee problems. Have to assume that was behind the minimal interest from other clubs and also why Bayern were willing to part with a player who has been very good for them when healthy.

this Icelandic goalkeeper that Arsenal look likely to sign sounded like a nice stop gap solution, but after hearing about some of his recent "performances".... I'm really not sure why we are going in. Looks like more "connection" signings.

Agent Mendes is up to his tricks again haha, Jota to Liverpool expected to be about £45m...wonder if £20m of that will end up in Mendes back pocket?

    What an image.

Wait all this time to get this done and then immediately linked with Diogo Jota from Wolves.

That would also be a good signing.

Good signing for Liverpool. I think his age may be the reason for the low price but they won't care, it's a quality player.

As for United. I tend to ignore United during the transfer window because it's either United dawadlling on actually completing our targetted signing or the press rumor mill but I do think United will sign someone. Perhaps a fullback over a winger though. United want Sancho and vice versa but Dortmund's asking price is far too much, especially in the COVID climate. I don't blame United on this one. What is their fault is not going for alternatives.

Two good signings for Liverpool, I think the Jota one is really useful so that there is a PL quality option on the bench to bring on to rest either Mane or Salah when a game looks in the bag or they're having an off night. If African Cup of Nations is going on this year that'll be handy as well.

African Cup of Nations has be postponed until 2021.

Which obviously is a very good thing for Liverpool. Not only Salah and Mane. We have Keita and Matip also.

Happy that those deals are done, Espeically the Thiago one. Its clear that we've lacked that little bit of creativity in the middle of the park since we sold Coutinho so happy to finally have a good replacement for him.

Jota is the type of quality we missed last year. The Cube was too injury prone and while Origi is somewhat of a cult hero now, he's just not the quality of player you want to see coming on the pitch when you need the change the flow of the game.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

I'm a bit gutted that Ki-Jana Hoever has gone the other way to be honest.

BUT it was obviously to sweeten the deal for Wolves to allow Jota to leave so it works. It's not like the lad was gonna get any game time with us just yet where as I'm hearing Wolves have given him the number 2 which would suggest that they will. So as I said, it works.

I'm happy with the Jota signing we needed a bit of flair in the backup for Firmino. Origi will always be a legend to me for his Champions League exploits but he's just not really effective a lot of the time. I'm looking forward to seeing what Jota can bring.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

Hoya is another great signing for Liverpool. Came. Bit out of nowhere but it's another sign of a club being clinical over a transfer while United dither.

As Gary Neville rightly pointed out after yesterday's game; United URGENTLY need a CB above anything else right now. I'd forget about Sancho and prioritise that.
We need a pacy CB to play with Maguire or Lindelof. Antonio Rudoger seems surplus to requirements at Chelsea. I'd go for him. I'm amazed he's been frozen out as I think he's better than Zouma and Christiansen. He's strong, has pace and would suit what we need at United. He's also in his prime. I'd stick a £20m bid in to see what happens. I'd happily pay £30m for him.
Juan Foyth and Ruben Dinas are also.optikns I'd go for.

Apparently Mourinho wants Lingard at Spurs and is prepared to pay the £30m we value him at. I'm amazed and I hope it happens.

You don't spend all summer going after Sancho then not completing it. A CB isn't the priority right now as we have too many of them on the books as it is. Maguire/Lindelof/Bailly/Jones/Smalling/Rojo/TFM all CB's that are on the books and on a hefty wage. You'd need to move on at least two of them before you fill that position.

RW was the problem area last season and still is now. CDM is also the problem...they obviously see LB as a problem too. United are still in the middle of a rebuild, so this is going to be another suck it and see season...though looking at things, unless some more bodies come in, we'll be lucky to finish top 6.

Oh and if Jose wants to spend £30m on Lingard, sanction it, if Roma only want to pay £15m for Smalling, sanction it. Telles quoted price is £30m so get it done, you could get roughly £25m for Dalot too but this is the Glazers and Ed...money matters to them.

I'm surprised that on a Wrestling forum no one has mentioned the way Leicester announced the signing of Cengiz Ünder.

    They used the hashtag #UnderTaken

    Fantastic stuff.

Did you guys actually make any effort to get the deal done, thought? Like I've mentioned, the reports out of Germany are that United have yet to submit an official bid to Dortmund. The narrative from United all summer is that the personal terms were done and it just needed to be finalized with Dortmund. Two weeks ago, that switched and personal terms aren't agreed. So if no deal was agreed with Dortmund and no terms were agreed with the player, what effort was actually made to complete the transfer? It really looks like United did very little to get this deal done and were essentially doing daily media briefings in hopes the player would demand a move.

So Atletico are in for Torreira but want a cut-rate deal that's structured to help them financially... but refuse to move on their valuation of Partey. Irony, boys.

    Bit of a surprising one.

Maybe wants to have another crack at England to finish his career after never making a competitive appearance for Liverpool years ago?

Decent signing for any Championship team though, lots of experience. Albeit in La Liga not England but still.
