Re: If Eli wins another Superbowl

Maybe so, his last win was due to the huge quality defensive players that team had in 07/08 season from Michael Straham on down.I see the Niners winning the NFC Championship but wouldn't be surprised if the Giants won.I think Eli is playing better this season then their first SB run. Will he be considered better than Peyton probably not, if people will finally start putting him into the true elite section of the QBs in the NFL currently and all time.Man if the Eagles won one game, who knows we might of been in this same position.Teams win-loss records are decided between one or two plays..

Re: If Eli wins another Superbowl

I very much doubt it. Brady has three and its not like he is consistently viewed as the better quarterback than Peyton. Terry Bradshaw has four and no one considers him a better QB than John Elway (two) or Dan Marino (none, famously). A SB win is a team accomplishment and while its part of a career resume for a QB, its only one part of many. Eli surpassing his brother in that regard will not change the fact that Peyton is ahead in almost every other way.

Which is not to say Eli is a poor QB by any means. He's been clutch this season. But his career has certainly been a bit more inconsistent. And while pure numbers is again only part of the equation, Eli is way behind Peyton in that regard.

Re: If Eli wins another Superbowl

As an admittedly bitter bitter Cowboys fan, I really don't like Eli Manning. If he wins another super bowl I'm going to be a very sour fan. To watch Eli win a second when Romo doesn't have one, and hasn't had much success in the playoffs or even getting to them. I obviously can't deny that Eli Manning is a good qb and playing rather well right now, but that doesn't make it sting any less. I don't know that having 2 super bowl wins will make people see Eli as better than Petyon. Big brother has really built himself quite a legacy and even with 2 superbowl wins (should he get the second) he'll have to catch up in numbers first before they start really saying he has surpassed his brother.

I'm not sure. I probably wouldn't go that far, but the whole debate over whether or not Eli is an elite NFL QB should already be put to rest based on how he played this season.

Re: If Eli wins another Superbowl

In every major statistical category, I would never consider Eli better than his brother Peyton even if Eli wins his second Super Bowl.

You have to look at the fact that Peyton has accomplished more than Eli will ever accomplish in the NFL. Peyton was voted AP NFL MVP four times in his career, more than any player in NFL history, Eli hasn't been voted for MVP as of today. Eli has thrown 4,000+ passing yards three times, his brother accomplished the feat eleven times. Peyton has broke tons of records in the NFL, Eli hasn't.

In conclusion, Peyton is light years ahead of his younger brother when it comes to accomplishments and achievements in the NFL.

There's no way in hell, Peyton we know, got there almost entirely by himself(he did have a good WR corps, and TEs), while Eli has spent the majority of his career hiding behind a power run game and a good defense. The two are almost polar opposites.

Re: If Eli wins another Superbowl

Peyton will still be considered the better QB between the brothers even if Eli wins another Super Bowl. As Suntan has said they are both completely different but still are very good. Before the season I didn't think that Eli was an elite QB, I thought that he was good no doubt in my mind about that, but I couldn't put him in the elite list. Now after this season I can see him as an elite QB, but still he isn't even close to his brother in my eyes. Peyton will go down as one of the best if not the best QB ever.

Peyton is still the better qb. Look how horrible the colts looke this season with what 2 or 3 qbs running the offense. Peyton was the o co ordinator in all practical sense. He called the plays and ran everything. I guarntee the colts would have have won 10 or 11 games this season with peyton and made the playoffs.

Eli is good but he also has a pretty decent defense too to help him with all his interceptions he throws.

Re: If Eli wins another Superbowl

It gets him in the discussion, and some people will say yes. For me, definitely not. Peyton's been to 2 Super Bowls and won 1, and we see how important he is to the Colts with them only winning 2 games in his absence this season. Eli has had a far better team around him with better running backs and a FAR better defense, especially that defensive line. I'm not taking anything away from him, he's done more than his part to get the Giants where they are now and where they were in 2007. However, the Colts have always had a notoriously bad defense (especially against the run) and Peyton carried them constantly to 12 wins or more until last season. Peyton is a first-ballot hall of famer, we can't say that about Eli yet.

For real, the only people who would even be remotely considering putting Eli in the same QB group as Peyton, are talking heads(hi skip bayless) and idiots. This really isn't even a discussion as far as accomplishment and ability.

    I hate Peyton Manning.

This being said, no matter how many rings Eli gains he will never be held in the same regard as Peyton. In fact...since everyone will ALWAYS claim Peyton as the superior, Elis own accomplishments will only escalate the Manning family legend.

Re: If Eli wins another Superbowl

Eli is in a totally different class than Peyton, and not in a good way. In the top tier of NFL QBs, you have Peyton, Brady, and Brees. Just below them is the category of future legends, who will move up and become the top tier in the next three years or so, which has Aaron Rodgers, Matt Stafford, and Matt Ryan. Then just below that you have guys who have maintained mediocrity for a majority of their career and are too late trying to jump on the greatness train. In that group is Philip Rivers, Carson Palmer, and Eli Manning. I respect Eli Manning but it's too late for him to be just now calling himself elite. He isn't super deep into his career but legends aren't made on sub-90 passer ratings and 25 TDs per season on average.

That being said, he's had a season for the books, nearing 5,000 and putting up a 92.9 season and I do like him better than Peyton, but he'll need five more seasons like this before his Hall of Fame resume is taking seriously. Granted, two Super Bowl rings is nothing to take lightly, and I think future generations should look at Eli like we look at Boom Easaison nowadays. Good, but not great.

I just wouldn't be able to live with the fact that Eli beat us twice in the Super Bowl.

So yeah, here is to hoping we redeem SB 42. And here is to hoping David Tyree will die after press week.

Did someone really put Matt Ryan over Eli manning? That's a bit far-fetched

As far a I'm concerned, Eli plateued for five years leading up to this year, so it's not too far-fetched in my opinion. But I can see the argument. Maybe it was a step too far, but the gap between Eli and Peyton realistically is that large... I'm just saying.
