    BOWL SEASON

Here's how I think the BCS Bowls should shake out.

    Orange Bowl
Clemson(ACC Champ) vs West Virginia(BE Champ)

    Sugar Bowl
    Alabama(At large) vs Stanford(At large)

    Fiesta Bowl
Michigan(At large) vs Boise State(At large)

    Rose Bowl
    Oregon(Pac12 Champ) vs Wisconsin(B1G Champ)

    BCS National Championship
Oklahoma State(Big XII Champ) vs LSU(SEC Champ)

    Re: BOWL SEASON

To me, there's really no argument that can be made for Bama to be in the BCS Championship Game. If you been reading the college football threads, you may know that I am one of the few people maybe even left on the world that still somewhat favors the BCS Bowl system, if Bama gets in I will lose all my faith in it. Let's just take a brief look at both teams:

Alabama, 11-1 record with their one loss going to the #1 team in Tuscaloosa. They also played the #1 LSU at home and lost by a field goal 9-6. Bama has 3 wins against winning teams and 2 wins against currently ranked teams.

Oklahoma State, 11-1 record, with their one loss being at Iowa St. 7 wins against winning teams and 5 wins against ranked teams. OKST one loss was mere hours after they found out about that horrible plane crash.

If Alabama's loss to LSU was at LSU than I believe you could make an argument for a rematch, but it wasn't and OKST has just earned it more than Alabama has. OKST had a much tougher schedule and when it came to them not only needing to beat OU they needed to blow them out and they did that.

    Re: BOWL SEASON

Boise State won't be in a BCS Bowl (they should be but the won't be) and Alabama will be the number two team. Kind of hard to win your own conference when the best team in the country is in the same conference. All the time in high school football the two top teams from the same Region end up playing in the State Championship. Yeah, OK ST won the Big XII but the conference was no where near as strong as it was in recent years.

    Re: BOWL SEASON

OK St beat 7 teams with winning records.

    Alabama beat 3.

    College Football != High School.

And if the best team in your conference already beat you, why not let a team from another conference try?

In 2006, Florida jumped idle Michigan, by beating #15 Arkansas, this year, I see no reason why Oklahoma State can't jump Alabama after Alabama sat idle and OKST beat #9 Oklahoma.

The reality is, I bet if OSU hadn't tragically lost school personnel in a plane crash prior to the Iowa State game, they'd be undefeated. While it still counts as an L on the scoresheet, it's something that can still be taken into consideration. Plus Bama had it's shot, and blew it, AT HOME. College Football would become the laughingstock of major sports if LSU played Bama, it'd be about as serious as BASEketball.

Also, for me, it's a toss up between TCU or Boise State for that bid, I just have a soft spot for Boise State, and I'd rather see Big Blue lose to Boise than TCU.

There was a cool thing on CBSSports yesterday where you could pick a team (unnamed) from a list of statistics. Basically if you looked at the W20 and W40, the opposing team Win % and average Sagarin Ranking of each team, one stood out among all the others as the clear cut #2 team in the country, and that team was OK State. I agree that it will pretty much be a joke if LSU/Alabama play again, though I'd still watch. I think OK State deserves a shot though, they have had a better season (according to those stats) than Alabama anyway.

Big Blue will ROLL over either one! Especially after beating OSU they will be motivated and ready to get some. Yeah, Boise should go but its more than likely going to be TCU since they won the WAC. Man, I'm so ready for Urban Myer lead OSU to come into Ann Arbor and get rattled every year.

Anyway, only a small group of fans would get pissed about LSU and BAMA going at it one more time. However, I wouldn't be against OKST getting the nod to get beat by at least three scores.

I believe that Oklahoma State deserve to play LSU for the championship. It would be unfair and BS if they don't. I bet nobody could beat Oklahoma State in that game last night for the way they dominated against a good Oklahoma team, it amazes me. A powerful offense of OK State versus a stout defense of LSU would be a helluva matchup, January 9.

    Re: BOWL SEASON

OKST defense has been the main criticism of that team, and last night they shut down a pretty good offense and QB in Oklahoma and Landry Jones. Let's not forget OU was ranked pretty high all season, and still in the BSC Championship picture until a few weeks ago. And they made a outside Heisman Candidate and very good QB in Landry Jones look foolish all that game. And I agree with out that tragic plane crash, I think OKST goes on undefeated and this isn't even a question at all.

Let's not forget Oklahoma was overrated and is well known for laying down after getting hit in the mouth. Yes, go ahead and feed OKST to LSU and, let's see Stanford play against a pissed off BAMA team. I'd love to see both .

I've lost all faith now in the BCS, they have set it up for a rematch. Guess we'll just have to get stuck watching LSU beat Alabama AGAIN. OKST deserve it more than Bama, when you're only argument for a team is that it LOST a game, there is no argument at all.

2012 BCS National Championship Game: The Rematch

Ladies & Gentlemen, Alabama will play LSU for the 2012 BCS National Championship Game.

Play it again, LSU and Alabama.

The Crimson Tide (.942) edged out Oklahoma State (.933) in the final round of voting and will play the top-ranked Tigers in an all-SEC Allstate BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 9 in New Orleans.

The Cowboys made a late surge by beating Oklahoma 44-10 on Saturday night, and closed the gap between themselves and Alabama in the polls. But it was not enough to avoid the first title game rematch in the 14-year history of the BCS.

The Tigers (13-0) beat the Tide 9-6 in overtime on Nov. 5 in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama (11-1) finished second in both the Harris and coaches' polls by a wide enough margin to make up for the fact that Oklahoma State was ahead in the computer ratings.

The Cowboys (11-1), champions of the Big 12, will play in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl against Stanford from the Pac-12.

Big Ten champion Wisconsin will play Pac-12 champion Oregon in the Rose Bowl Game presented by Vizio.

    ESPN
Feel free to give your opinion on the title game.

    Re: BOWL SEASON

To me, there aren't a lot of great matchups on the "undercard" so to speak. The only one I really care to see is FSU/ND, and that's not me even being partial. Even if I wasn't a fan of ND I'd still watch that game. Great traditions and a battle of 8-4 teams deemed to have disappointing seasons. Kansas State/Arkansas is another game I'm really looking forward to. Still say KSU should be in a BCS game before Michigan, but whatever. And I hope LSU and OK State annihilate Bama and Stanford. Would make me so happy.

Besides the Championship Game fiasco how does VA Tech get into the Sugar Bowl over either Boise or Kansas State? And I agree it's going to be pretty awesome and sad when LSU dominates Bama and OKST dominates Andrew Luck.

    Re: BOWL SEASON

First off congrats to the winner of the Best Bowl Game, now two days ago, as Wisconsin-Whitewater took the Stagg Bowl against Mount Union. The 45th straight win for UWW, and 3rd straight National Title. After fighting through the regular season and the playoffs UWW and Mount Union met in the Stagg Bowl for the 7th consecutive time. Proving that the programs themselves are above the norm in DIII Football.

We had some fun-to-watch bowl games yesterday, Ohio scored with thirteen seconds left to win against Utah State 24-23, and UL-Lafyette hit a 50 yard FG to beat SDSU 32-30. In a somewhat predictable game Temple trounced Wyoming, but both programs are showing signs of life, which is excellent for college football.

Andrew Luck should learn to placekick as well because their placekicker chocked HARD! Drives them down the field and sets up a 35 yard field goal to win as time expires and the kicker absolutely shanks it to left field, kid was nervous but still that was awful I could have done a better job toe punting that bitch!

    Re: BOWL SEASON

Stanford's kicker couldn't handle the pressure.

I would be nervous as hell playing in front of 69,000+ people and worse, costing your team of winning the Fiesta Bowl Championship, twice. A terrible way to end the season.

Plus, I'm anticipating to see how the Michigan/Virginia Tech plays out tonight.
