I am more anxious for Cain/Dos Santos than any heavyweight title fight in recent memory. Dos Santos truly is the best heavyweight striker in the world and proved in his last fight he can take heavy shots. His takedown defense thus far has been stellar but Cain has some of the best in the division, plus he is relentless. Should be a great fight, and that by far is the best thing to come from UFC 121.

Agreed on all accounts TE. That fight should be epic and truly will show the future of the heavy weight division.

Just watched the Preliminary Fight on Spike TV:

Court McGee bets Ryan Jensen in the fight of the night in my opinion. Loved this fight. Jensen is incredible on his feet and his technique seems flawless. Court on the other hand, has the biggest heart and an endless gas tank. This goes to show that conditioning is number 1 thing a fighter needs.

It looks like Patrick Cote is done. He was completely outclassed by Tom Lawlor and never looked even remotely dangerous.

And that was a sick sub by Roberts on Guymon.

I think that top to bottom this was the best UFC PPV in quite some time. Each of the fights on the main card were awesome. The Diego/Thiago fight stole the show though and Lesnar getting dominated was unexpected, I was pulling for Cain in that one but he flat out owned Brock.

Re: UFC 121: Lesnar vs Velasquez Preview & LIVE Discussion

The full list of UFC 121 payouts included:

Cain Velasquez: $200,000 (includes $100,000 win bonus)
    def. Brock Lesnar: $400,000

Jake Shields: $150,000 ($75,000 win bonus)
    def. Martin Kampmann: $27,000

Diego Sanchez: $100,000 ($50,000 win bonus)
    def. Paulo Thiago: $18,000

Matt Hamill: $58,000 ($29,000 win bonus)
    def. Tito Ortiz: $250,000

Brendan Schaub: $20,000 ($10,000 win bonus)
    def. Gabriel Gonzaga: $67,000

Court McGee: $30,000 ($15,000 win bonus)
    def. Ryan Jensen: $10,000

Tom Lawlor: $20,000 ($10,000 win bonus)
    def. Patrick Cote: $21,000

Daniel Roberts: $16,000 ($8,000 win bonus)
    def. Mike Guymon: $8,000

Sam Stout: $32,000 ($16,000 win bonus)
    def. Paul Taylor: $16,000

Chris Camozzi: $16,000 ($8,000 win bonus)
    def. Dongi Yang: $8,000

Jon Madsen: $16,000 ($8,000 win bonus)
    def. Gilbert Yvel: $30,000

Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter's income. They also do not include any other "locker room" or special bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays. They also do not include portions of the pay-per-view revenue that some top-level fighters receive.

For example, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out $70,000 UFC 121 bonuses to Velasquez (KO of the Night), Roberts (Submission of the Night), and Sanchez and Thiago (Fight of the Night).

In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.

Re: UFC 121: Lesnar vs Velasquez Preview & LIVE Discussion

Early estimates have the PPV buy rate for 121 breaking 1m buys. Which once again confirms that Lesnar is a draw. The question is whether he will remain a draw after that loss. I think the answer will depend on how he is handled from here. If the UFC did Mir-Lesnar III and hyped the living hell out of it, they could probably get another 1m buys with an otherwise-weak card. Lesnar would likely get a redeeming, dominant win. Lesnar could also face Roy Nelson after Carwin pulled out - that's honest something of a trap fight and possibly a boring snooze-fest. Tougher to hype.

Re: UFC 121: Lesnar vs Velasquez Preview & LIVE Discussion

I think he'll remain a draw, at least for his next couple fights. People will want to see how he rebounds and bounces back. That's enough intrigue to pull another monster buyrate in.
