ROH Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

Asked for and now received. I'll be updating this regularly, but feel free to post them yourselves in here if you come across these before I do. Don't make separate threads for these unless you want to draw attention to a particular subject. That means copypasting something like Lance Storm's return from a Newswire and making it a thread of it's own, because it's something important, is fine. Posting a Newswire in it's own thread just for the sake of posting a Newswire is not, and will just be merged here.

So people don't have to go looking for these themselves, maybe some folk will find it easier to follow ROH. Oh, and of course discussion would be cool too.

May 11th: As announced this morning on the main page, Lance Storm is making his return to Ring of Honor (ROH Wrestling)! He will wrestle during both events when ROH returns to Toronto on July 24th and 25th! ROH officials are working diligently to find two matches that will showcase Storm’s incredible talents. Tickets are on sale now for these events at ROH Wrestling, and they will be known as “Death Before Dishonor VII: Legends Edition”! Don’t miss out on this historic weekend that already includes appearances by Bret “Hitman” Hart and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

May 11th: One of our biggest sales to ever take place at ROHWrestling.com is back. You can now save 35-40% Off Your Next Order. Don't delay as time is running out. Full details on the sale, along with the discount codes can be found here: ROH Wrestling.

May 11th: The Super Smash Brothers made a great impression on both the ROH fans and officials in both Boston and Edison; receiving “Please come back” chants from the ROH faithful. We are pleased to announce that they indeed will come back – and as part of Death Before Dishonor VII! They will be in action on July 24th and 25th in Toronto!

May 11th: HDNet cameras were in the house last Friday night in Boston, filming for several upcoming commercials as well as the first installments of “the Art of Pro Wrestling”, with your host, Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana! Coming soon to ROH on HDNet!

May 11th: Sonjay Dutt did not disappoint in Boston or Edison either. The charismatic veteran had two excellent showings despite coming up short on both nights, and to that end, has been added to the two big events on June 12th in Manassas and June 13th in New York City! Don’t forget that ROH Ambassador Ric Flair will also be in attendance on both nights! We’ll have Dutt’s opponents soon right here in the Newswire!

May 11th: Claudio Castagnoli and his associates in The Embassy certainly haven’t made any friends, and you can now add the Necro Butcher to their list of enemies after this past weekend. It seemed that Jimmy Rave was most disgusted by him. He took every opportunity to insult Necro by repeatedly spitting in his face. And while it was obvious to everyone that Jimmy wanted no part of Necro physically, he threw the first “punch” with his disgusting display. We’ll have more on this as it develops.

May 11th: Also announced this morning is the second of 6 main events that will take place when HDNet crews return to Philadelphia on May 29th and 30th to film 6 more weeks of “Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet”. The main page article says it all (ROH Wrestling), it will be Roderick Strong versus Jay Briscoe in Philly! Jay came within eyelashes of winning the ROH World Title in Edison, and Roddy has been on fire since returning from Pro Wrestling NOAH. Friendly rivalries are great, but this one has been off the hook! Fans in St. Louis and Markham, Ontario can attest – you don’t want to miss this one! Plus, KENTA and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair! Tickets are on sale now!

May 11th: Just released and in stock is "Steel City Clash" from Elizabeth, PA from March 20th. This event features GHC Jr. Champion KENTA & El Generico vs. ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness & Davey Richards; Tyler Black & Necro Butcher vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Brodie Lee in a Falls Count Anywhere Match; Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries; Bryan Danielson vs. Mike Quackenbush; plus more. To order this DVD click here: ROH Wrestling.

May 11th: Could a new look for rohwrestling.com be in store soon? Keep your eyes peeled!

Good to see they are making a big deal out of the "legends" show. Hopefully it pays off and they get a nice return on it all.

Ugh, Dutt is returning and even bigger UGH at Necro being added to the Embassy fued. Are they actually going to do anything with the guy other than stick him in ever faction fued available?

Not really interested Strong vs Jay or KENTA, tbh.

Roderick vs KENTA just got announced today, that arouse your interest?

I don't see any good matches coming out of Necro going against the Embassy. Is his feud with Jimmy even over yet? I don't recall any blowoff.

I'm sure they did have a blow-off at the Take No Prisoner PPV tapings.

Wasn't keen the first Strong vs KENTA match, less interested in seeing a watered down TV version. If the Lynn match is as good as hyped then I would actually have no problem with Strong getting back into the title hunt.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

    Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

May 12th: As announced in this morning’s main page article ROH Wrestling , the second of the 6 main events to be filmed at the next ROH on HDNet National Television tapings is official. On May 29th at the Arena in south Philadelphia, Roderick Strong will face KENTA in singles action! Roddy has been on a roll since returning from Pro Wrestling NOAH, and this will be perhaps his biggest challenge to date. Tickets are on sale for the tapings on May 29th and 30th at ROH Wrestling . Don’t be left out as this match is a potential classic!

May 12th: Prince Nana was very happy with Joey Ryan’s debut in Boston and Edison last weekend. And even though Ryan lost a singles contest to Colt Cabana, Prince Nana believes he is a great asset to the Embassy. “I know these fools like the Boo Boo Cabana think they have an advantage, eh, but they will fall. This is why I will bring the sleaze to Detroit and Chicago. I bring Joey Ryan to show those stinking pigs the power of the Embassy!” Joey Ryan will be in action on June 26th in Detroit and June 27th in Chicago. Don’t forget, ROH Ambassador Ric Flair will also appear. Tickets are on sale now for both events!

May 12th: ROH is also happy to announce that Petey Williams will appear in Detroit on June 26th and Chicago on June 27th. ROH officials are high on his athleticism and look forward to his matches during that doubleshot weekend.

May 12th: Jimmy Jacobs has been obsessed with bringing down Tyler Black. And after the brutal attack on Black with his railroad spike last time in Chicago, it would seem that Jacobs is once again firmly inside Tyler’s head. Since then, ROH officials have told both competitors that the violence cannot go on long term, and that they must settle their differences once and for all. ROH officials have given each man the right to choose a match that they believe will end the feud. Jacobs was first to respond, citing the pleasure he received when seeing the footage of a fallen Tyler, lying in a pool of his own blood while surrounding fans chanted the word “disappointment”. “I know they thought they were shouting that to me,” said Jacobs. “But the eyes of those who will not see are only open to fallacy, and the truth is that Tyler is my biggest disappointment. And I will put an end to that disappointment in New York and he will bleed again as I select a First Blood match.” Tyler Black has yet to respond with the match he has chosen.

May 12th: Signed for ROH’s return to Manassas and New York: ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn, ROH World Tag Team Champions The American Wolves, Kevin Steen, Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black, Colt Cabana, Eddie Kingston (6/13 only), and Roderick Strong. This is in addition to Guido Maritato (6/13 only), The Young Bucks, Sonjay Dutt, and ROH Ambassador “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. We’ll have more matches announced for both events in the next ROH Newswire!

May 12th: Don’t forget to keep up with ROH on Twitter at ROHonHDNet (ROHonHDNet) on Twitter

May 12th: Our gigantic 35-40% Off Sale is up and running until Thursday morning at ROHWrestling.com. Save big on your next order. Full details on the sale, along with the discount codes can be found here: ROH Wrestling .

May 12th: Lance Storm talks about his upcoming in-ring return at Death Before Dishonor VII at StormWrestling.com - Commentary . As announced, he will appear in Toronto on July 24th and 25th, and will be in action on both nights. Don’t forget that Bret Hart will appear on the 24th and Ric Flair on the 25th! Tickets are on sale now!
A First Blood match is kinda cool, but I hope they're not seriously blowing off this feud already. It had potential to be huge and there seems to be a huge lack of story in it.

Very surprised at Pearce booking Petey Williams. I would've thought that an "old-school" booking style would mean no unrealistic finishers.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

Pearce's booking is about as "old school" as Star Wars... or something else not very old school. >_> Horray for more useless TNA spotmonkeys?

I have to agree with you on the Tyler/Jacobs fued. It had potential to be epic but they booked their first one-on-one way too soon and the match was the least hate-filled grudge match I've seen this year. From the few matches I have seen them in together it seems as if they actually have pretty poor chemistry together. Jacobs is booked as a really lame duck heel with weird stuff like spiking himself and crying and Black isn't really that good at displaying "hate" in matches. 1st Blood match could be good but for the fued to really become decent they need to have Black become a bigger underdog and face-in-peril, which is hard to do if they are still trying to keep him in the title hunt.

Holy crap @ Necro/Grizzly comedy team.

    Steen/Davey looks badass.

Atleast the ads for TV look good, and I laughed at Dutt shitting on the the Guru gimmick.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

Steen/Davey does look to be another great match under Davey's belt this year. The Wolves/Steenerico feud in general is looking to be fantastic, could turn out to be better than Briscoes/Steenerico.

I really hope this feud gets settled in a Ladder War II. As long as it's not a threeway with the Briscoes, I can see it being better than the first, since it won't be a mindless spotfest.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

    Thursday, May 14th, 2009

May 14th: As announced in yesterday’s main page article at ROH Wrestling, current GHC Junior Champion, KENTA, will appear in Detroit on June 26th and Chicago on June 27th! He is looking forward to showing the fans in the Midwest once again why he is considered to be one of the best wrestlers in the world, and we’ll have his opponents in the coming weeks. Don’t forget, KENTA is also a part of the ROH on HDNet National Television tapings in Philadelphia on May29th and 30th! Tickets for Philadelphia, Detroit, and Chicago are on sale and available now at ROH Wrestling!

May 14th: This week's episode of "Ring of Honor Wrestling" on HDNet will feature an announcement by ROH Ambassador Ric Flair on who will challenge World Champion Jerry Lynn in the first World Title defense on televsion. The TV Main Event will be Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. Kenny King & Rhett Titus. Also, Brent Albright vs. Claudio Castagnoli; Jay Briscoe vs. Sami Callihan, The Dark City Fight Club in action plus more. For additional information go to HDNet Original Programming - Ring of Honor Wrestling.

May 14th: El Generico contacted ROH officials this morning after seeing one of his orthopedic surgeons, and the preliminary news is better than expected. Generico will be seeing another surgeon in the coming days for another opinion, and we hope to have a solid announcement early next week as it pertains to Generico’s involvement on upcoming events.

May 14th: Signed for Manassas on June 12th is what promises to be a very hard-hitting singles bout with a grudge. Jay Briscoe will take a break from his ‘friendly competition’ with Roderick Strong to once more battle the force that put his brother out of commission. That force is the American Wolves, and Jay’s target in Manassas is Davey Richards. With Eddie Edwards, Richards has been a machine as of late, but he fell to Kevin Steen in a brutal brawl in Boston, which may have just softened him up a little. Can Briscoe pick up where Steen left off?

May 14th: Have you signed on as a follower of ROH on Twitter? Link up at ROHonHDNet (ROHonHDNet) on Twitter.

May 14th: The May 13th edition of the ROH Videowire is now available for viewing at http://www.rohvideos.com/watch?v=N_D0EuO9QKg&fmt=18. You will see comments from the Necro Butcher, Bryan Danielson, Jay Briscoe, and Sonjay Dutt, as well as highlights from Boston and Edison, a preview of this weekend’s telecast of Ring of Honor Wrestling on HDNet, and a look at the new DVD release - “Stylin’ and Profilin’” - featuring the ROH debut of “Nature Boy” Ric Flair!

May 14th: Speaking of Sonjay Dutt, he has signed a pair of interesting singles matches for the Manassas/New York weekend. IN Manassas, he’s going to face off with Jimmy Jacobs. Jacobs has been busy trying to hold onto what once was a formidable AOTF army, and most recently, has been obsessed with dismantling Tyler Black. Can the “Original Playa from the Himalaya” score a win over the AOTF magnate one day before his “First Blood” war with Tyler in NYC? Then in Manhattan, Dutt’s task will get no easier as he’s set to face a man that has been the hottest competitor in ROH as of late in Roderick Strong. A win over Strong would certainly make a statement for the charismatic Dutt. Tickets for Manassas and Manhattan are on sale now!

May 14th: Also signed for Manassas, is a grudge affair, as the Embassy may just have bitten off way more than they can chew. At the behest of Prince Nana, Ernie Osiris has picked Grizzly Redwood as his primary target, and the two have been battling in pre-show matches for weeks. Now with the Embassy’s latest attack, which saw Jimmy Rave and Osiris lay the littlest lumberjack out and attempt to cut off his beard, the straw has broken the camel's back. The Necro Butcher came to his rescue, and was also rewarded with a beatdown by the Embassy in Boston. Now Necro is promising to bring a hardcore fight back to Rave and company. In Manassas, we’ll have six-man tag team action as Jimmy Rave and Ernie Osiris of the Embassy will team with their Associate, Claudio Castagnoli, against the Necro Butcher, Grizzly Redwood, and Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana! There is bad blood between all six men, and it could boil over on June 12th!

May 14th: Rumor has it that Guido Maritato is confident that he’ll be making a lasting impression on June 13th in New York. The Sicilian Shooter has stated that he wants to show ROH that he’s capable of hanging with the toughest competition in the company, and is apparently set to make a challenge next week.

May 14th: ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn is set to travel to Puerto Rico this weekend to challenge for IWA Heavyweight Title in a Three Way Dance against El Chicano and Joe Bravo. We’ll have the follow up next week in the Newswire. Could Lynn be a double-champion come Monday? For more information on this great event, please visit IWA : International Wrestling Association : Lucha Libre : Wrestling : WWE : TNA : CMLL : AAA : ROH : NOAH : ECW : NWA : SmackDown! : Raw : WWF : WCW : WWC.

May 14th: Speaking of Lynn, he’ll be involved in the 4th of 6 Television main events to be filmed in Philadelphia on May 29th and 30th! The veteran ROH World Champion has an absolute classic against “that Young Knockout Kid” Chris Hero in Boston last week, and now, they’re set to bring it to National Television in a non-title affair. Hero has been on his own quiet roll as of late, with the help of a brutal elbow strike. If you ask Hero about it, he’ll tell you that the legendary Mitsuharu Misawa has taught him the art of the elbow. If you ask ROH on HDNet play-by-play announcer Mike Hogewood, it’s most assuredly an illegally loaded elbow pad causing the damage. Either way you slice it, one thing is for certain: If he connects that elbow with Jerry Lynn’s jaw in Philly, you can “slap the porpoise” because it’ll be over.

May 14th: Our big 35-40% Off Sale has been extended one final time. You can still take advantage of this offer until Sunday night at 9PM. Don't miss out on this great offer. For complete details on how to save click here: ROH Wrestling

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

Hopefully Generico returns soon, his injury really fucked up the booking for a few weeks.

No interest in Dutt/Jacobs though Dutt/Roddy could be fun if it turns into murderfest from Strong.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

    May, 18th, 2009

May 18th: As announced this morning in the main page article (ROH Wrestling), the ROH World Title will be defended in New York City as venerable champion, Jerry Lynn, will defend against Austin Aries. Aries has been more cocky and arrogant than ever before, and now he has his sights set on becoming the first two-time ROH World Champion. Can Lynn shut Aries up? Or will Aries show the world that he’s not only A star – he’s THE star. Tickets are on sale now!

May 18th: We are please to announce the first set of talent for the June ROH on HDNet National Television Tapings, taking place on June 19th and 20th at the Arena in South Philly. On June 19th and 20th you will see: Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries, Colt Cabana, ROH World Tag Team Champions - The American Wolves, Jimmy Rave, and D’Lo Brown. More names will be announced as we move forward.

May 18th: The surgery on the injured wrist of Jon Davis was successful, yet more intensive than originally thought. Davis had four bones in his wrist dislocated, and several frayed ligaments. Davis’ doctors had never seen such a severe wrist dislocation. Davis now has several pins holding the repairs in place, and the wrist has been placed in a hard cast. We’ll have updates on Davis’ condition going forward.

May 18th: We are pleased to announce that the talented Shawn Spears will be on hand for a look in Manassas on June 12th. Spears is perhaps best known as “Gavin Spears” in WWE or for his incredible feud with Colt Cabana in Ohio Valley Wrestling. ROH officials have received countless recommendations on Spears, and look forward to seeing him in action in Manassas.

May 18th: Signed for Manassas on June 12th is an incredible match up. Kenny King has shined more than one could have expected on Ring of Honor on HDNet, and his stock has without question continued to rise. Now, under the tutelage of “A Double”, King looks to take his stock higher than ever as he’s signed to face Bryan Danielson on June 12th in Manassas! Can King take that next step, or will “the best in the world” bring him back down to reality?

May 18th: Guido Maritato told people he wanted to face the “toughest” competition in Ring of Honor when he returns on June 13th at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Well, he’ll get “tough” as he has signed to face Jay Briscoe one-on-one! Briscoe was excited about the match, stating, “I know Guido can go, and I know he’s skilled. I’m flattered he wants a shot at me, man. But now Guido gonna have to put his money where his mouth is. Time to man up.”

May 18th: The BIG TEN SALE is back at ROHWrestling.com. You can purchase over 100 DVD's on sale for $10 each, tickets for our four events in June for as low as $10 each, plus save an additional 10% off your next order (which actually brings the costs of these DVD's and tickets to only $9 each). For a complete list of all titles included in this sale along with the 10% discount code click here: ROH Wrestling.

May 18th: In the next Newswire, we’ll announce the final two TV main events to be filmed on May 29th and 30th in Philly, announce the first talent rosters for June’s live events in Detroit and Chicago, and we hope to have another update on the condition of El Generico.
King/Dragon was good the last time, so hopefully they get a decent amount of time. Guido/Jay is intriguing, but not totally interesting to me. Aries/Lynn should be very good, but it's obvious Aries is gonna completely outshine the champ in everything.

    Hopefully Aries wins the title.

King/Dragon should be good and I'm glad at the news of bringing in Spears. He has talent and potential, his fued with Cabana in OVW was a lot of fun so I wouldn't mind seeing them go at it again.

I was hoping they would give Guido someone better than Briscoe, but meh.

That's a lot of kicks. Edwards still can't cut a promo though.

They need to pull the trigger on the Hero/Kingston fued.

I notice this thread gets a lot of views but the only person replying is Steve. Speak up if you're reading/watching these.

    May, 20th, 2009

May 20th: In case you missed the big news, we now know that Tyler Black has selected to face Jimmy Jacobs in a Steel Cage Match on June 26th in Detroit! The announcement of Black’s choice was made yesterday afternoon in the main page article entitled “Disappointment?”(ROH Wrestling). The article begs the question – what is going through the mind of Jimmy Jacobs? Between the First Blood match signed for June 13th at the Hammerstein, and now this brutal cage match, one has to wonder. Tickets for both New York and Detroit are on sale now at ROH Wrestling ! And don’t forget that ROH Ambassador Ric Flair will be on hand in both cities!

May 20th: The latest Ring of Honor Video Wire is up and available for viewing at YouTube - ROH Video Wire 5-19-09 , with words from Chris Hero, the American Wolves w/ Shane Hagadorn, World Champion Jerry Lynn, ROH Ambassador Ric Flair, and a look at this week’s episode of ROH on HDNet!

May 20th: El Generico contacted ROH officials late yesterday after seeing another orthopedic surgeon for his injured knee. While he has a meniscus tear, and the possibility of surgical repair still exists, doctors have medically cleared Generico to perform! And perform he will! He will be on hand for the May 29th and 30th ROH on HDNet National Television tapings in Philly, and will be involved in the 5th of the 6 main events to be filmed. And revenge will be on his mind as the American Wolves will team with “that Young Knockout Kid” Chris Hero to take on Kevin Steen, the returning El Generico, and KENTA! Tickets are available now at ROH Wrestling . This 6 Man Tag Team match is a main event anywhere in the world!

May 20th: Get ready Manassas, with Generico’s clearance yesterday comes a tremendous tag team match for June 12th. The knee of Generico will be tested as he and Kevin Steen will team to face Nick and Matt Jackson, the Young Bucks! If the Bucks can score the upset in Manassas, they will be well on their way to securing a permanent spot in the ROH tag team division! Tickets are on sale now!

May 20th: The 6th and final television main event has also been signed, and it will pit two of the very best in the world against one another for the third time. The first bout went to a brilliant time limit draw. The second incredible match ended in a double countout. Since then, these men have teamed and wrestled an absolute classic for the World Tag Team Titles. On May 30th in Philly at the Arena it will be Danielson-Black III. And should Black and Danielson defeat the American Wolves on the 29th, there is the intriguing possibility that this match could feature the ROH World Tag Team Champions against each other! One thing is for certain, this match promises to be another can’t miss classic. Get your tickets now at ROH Wrestling !

May 20th: Are you keeping up with ROH on Twitter? Visit twitter.com/rohonhdnet and stay informed!

May 20th: Speaking of Tyler Black, he was set to face Jerry Lynn for the ROH World Title before a lingering neck injury put him on the shelf. Now in Manassas on June 12th, he’s signed once again to face Lynn. But this time, it is going to be a non-title match. “Tyler is a great athlete,” said Lynn. “And on any other occasion I’d gladly put the title up. But I’m preparing for Austin Aries on June 13th. This will be my biggest test on my biggest stage. Tyler will have his chance again, believe me.” While Tyler isn’t happy about the match being non-title, he understands. “I know Jerry is preparing for Aries, just like I’m preparing for Jacobs. In fact, I can help him be ready for Austin. But Jerry better be ready in Manassas, because whether or not we both have other battles on our mind, I’m going to be prepared to beat him. Title or not.” Should Black and Danielson capture the tag titles in Philadelphia, their scheduled matches in Manassas and New York will change.

May 20th: ROH officials are happy to announce that former World Champion, Nigel McGuinness, will be on hand in Manassas and New York. He will make an appearance on both events.

May 20th: In Boston, Jimmy Rave and the Embassy attacked the Necro Butcher and the “crown jewel” disgustingly insulted Necro by repeatedly spitting in his face. In Edison, Rave showed his true colors by doing everything he could to avoid the madman. But now he won’t have the chance to run or hide behind anyone, as signed for New York on June 13th is Jimmy Rave versus the Necro Butcher in singles competition! Prince Nana left the door open by not keeping his eye on an open contract that Rave signed for the date, and word has it that Colt Cabana was the one that noticed it. “I will take care of Boo Boo Cabana in due time,” said the Prince. “He has put my crown jewel in harm ways, but that hillbilly Butcher will not harm a hair on Jimmy Rave’s head in that dump New York City. I will see to it.”

May 20th: The following talents will be on hand when Ring of Honor returns to Detroit on June 26th and Chicago on June 27th: Austin Aries, Davey Richards, Brent Albright, Colt Cabana, D’Lo Brown, Bryan Danielson, Delirious with Daizee Haze, and “Skullkrusher” Rasche Brown. These names are in addition to the previous announcement of Petey Williams, Joey Ryan, KENTA, and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. More talent and match announcements will be forthcoming. Tickets to both events are on sale now at ROH Wrestling !

May 20th: Just two days remain in the BIG TEN SALE. You can purchase tickets for all live events in June for only $10 each, purchase over 100 DVD's priced at $10 each, plus save 10% Off your next order. For complete details click here: ROH Wrestling .
More KENTA/Davey interaction will surely be great, same with Wolves/Steenerico interaction. It's good that they're close to ending this God-awful Tyler/Jimmy feud, but I wish Pearce would've done something to fix it like, I dunno, GOOD BOOKING. Rave/Necro doesn't really interest me at all.

Cage match has more potential than a 1st blood match, but we'll see. Wolves/Hero vs Steenerico/KENTA sounds fucking badass, surely there is no way that match can fail. ROH definately need a bigger focus on main event tag matches and that is atleast a step in the right direction.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

May 22nd: This week's edition of "Ring of Honor Wrestling" on HDNet features Jimmy Jacobs & Brodie Lee vs. Necro Butcher & Delirious; Kenny Omega vs. Jay Briscoe vs. Kenny King; Chris Hero vs. Eddie Kingston; Dark City Fight Club vs. Irish Airborne; plus more. Don't miss the action airing at 8 PM on Saturday night. For replay information and additional details visit: HDNet Original Programming - Ring of Honor Wrestling.

May 22nd: Ring of Honor is happy to announce that Kenny King, Eddie Edwards, Kevin Steen and El Generico, Claudio Castagnoli, Bison Smith, and former World Champion Nigel McGuinness will be in action on June 26th in Detroit and June 27th in Chicago Ridge when ROH swings through the Midwest once again. Already announced for Detroit is a Steel Cage match between Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black. In addition, KENTA and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair will be on hand in both cities! More match announcements for this great weekend of events will begin next week in the Newswire.

May 22nd: Austin Aries has been reportedly training like crazy for Jerry Lynn and his shot at becoming the first 2-time ROH World Champion on 6/13 in New York. But before he gets to the Hammerstein, he’s signed on as part of a Four Corner Survival match in Manassas. In this match the three men he’ll oppose are no slouches. He’ll be facing a man who has been on a complete and absolute tear as of late, Roderick Strong. He’ll be facing a man who has come into ROH with a reputation, D’Lo Brown. And he’ll be facing one half of the World Tag Team Champion, Eddie Edwards. Maybe Aries thought a four-way would be an easy night before perhaps the biggest of his career. He thought wrong.

May 22nd: Ring of Honor officials are not sure how Jacobs and Black will fare physically or emotionally after their First Blood Match in New York on June 13th. Even more worrisome is the aftermath of what is sure to be a brutal Cage Match between the two in Detroit on 6/26. Both men are scheduled to be in Chicago on 6/27, but no one is sure if either man will even be able to compete. ROH officials are taking a ‘wait-and-see’ approach when it comes to finalizing matches for Jacobs and Black in Chicago.

May 22nd: Last time the American Wolves crossed paths with Kevin Steen and El Generico in New York, they were on the losing end of things. But that didn’t stop The Wolves from destroying both Steen and Generico afterward. Since then, they took the titles in a ‘Tables are legal’ match, and Generico’s knee – suffering from an injury at the hands of Davey Richards – went out. When Generico informed ROH officials that he was deemed medically fit to wrestle, it became only a matter of time until Steen and Generico would face the Wolves again. That time is June 13th in New York. ROH officials are working with both teams to see what, if any, stipulation should be added to this match.

May 22nd: A nice feature on Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana was recently done by the Chicago Jewish News. The article talks about Cabana’s career, including the upcoming ROH Chicago return on June 27th. Visit Chicago Jewish News - Jewish Chicago's Hometown Newspaper to read the story.

May 22nd: Speaking of Cabana, he has signed on to compete in a Four Corner Survival on June 13th at the Hammerstein. He will oppose Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson, and D’Lo Brown in New York. Everyone is well aware of the past issues between Danielson and Claudio, notably what happened between the two in NYC some months ago, Cabana was defeated by D’Lo under controversial circumstances at ‘Supercard of Honor IV’, and even Dragon and D’Lo has some heated interaction in Houston. And now Claudio’s association with the Embassy has gotten him on Cabana’s bad side. There are underlying stories abound in this match!

May 22nd: Rumor has it that a major announcement will be made next week in the newswire regarding the World Title Match on June 13th in New York.

May 22nd: A special Memorial Day Weekend Sale is now ongoing at ROHWrestling.com. For every 3 Ring of Honor DVD's purchased, you will receive 2 free. That's right the Buy 3, Get 2 Free Sale has returned. Ring of Honor's "7th Anniversary Show" is now on the website for preorder and can be included in this offer. For complete details on how to take advantage of the sale click here: ROH Wrestling.
Both fourways sound great, as does another Steenerico/Wolves match. I imagine this feud will end in a Ladder War II, but I don't think they're close to ending it already, so it must be some other stipulation. Maybe Best 2 out of 3 Falls, since that was meant to happen before Generico got too injured. Nigel returning soon shall be good.

Re: Official ROH Newswire & Videowire Thread

May 26th: As announced this morning in the main page article ROH Wrestling , the American Wolves will face Kevin Steen and El Generico in a submissions match on June 13th in New York! Kevin Steen has been rabid at the thought of using tables, chairs, ladders, basically anything to defeat – to DESTROY – the Wolves, but Richards and Edwards see it differently. “WE call the shots,” said Edwards. “We wear the gold. So Steen can cry about whatever he wants, it’s our way or no way.” Judging their comments in the article, it seems obvious that the Wolves feel they can exploit Generico’s injured knee and use the weakness to gain a sure victory. Steen and Generico are fighting uphill in this match for sure. Can the underdog overcome the odds? Can Generico protect that injured knee against bloodthirsty Wolves?

May 26th: Signed for June 26th in Detroit is a very important match for former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness. In Houston, he was scheduled to tag with Claudio Castagnoli to battle Brent Albright and Blue Demon, Jr. But Nigel’s health prevented him from participating in that match, and Castagnoli was none too happy. Claudio took to attacking Nigel from behind, adding insult to his already apparent injury. Now Claudio will have to look Nigel in the eye and answer for his actions.

May 26th: Take No Prisoners 2009 is coming to Pay-Per-View! Also announced on the main page (ROH Wrestling), the latest Ring of Honor Pay-Per-View broadcast coming from Houston, Texas will begin airing on June 12th on InDemand, Direct TV, DISH Network, & TVN in the United States and in Canada on Bell Express Vu & Viewer’s Choice Canada.

May 26th: Signed for July 25th in Toronto is a grudge match that has brewed since “Northern Navigation”. Chris Hero versus Lance Storm. Need we say anything more? We’ll have Storm’s opponent for the event on July 24th soon here in the Newswire.

May 26th: Last week in the Newswire, Prince Nana stated that he and the Embassy would “take care of Boo Boo Cabana in due time”. That due time is apparently June 27th in Chicago. Over the weekend, Nana contacted ROH officials and he has challenged Cabana to face the Embassy in a Street Fight! Representing the Embassy will be Joey Ryan and Bison Smith, with their associate, Claudio Castagnoli. “You tell that Cabana that his time of shenanigans is over. He put the Crown Jewel in harm’s way of that filthy Necro Butcher in New York, now he will pay for his mistake.” As of press time, Cabana hadn’t selected his partners, but once he does we’ll announce them right here in the Newswire.

May 26th: A huge thank you from everyone at ROH for getting the amount of Twitter followers over 2,000! Not a follower yet, go on over to ROHonHDNet (ROHonHDNet) on Twitter , and get up to speed!

May 26th: The Buy 3, Get 2 Free Ring of Honor DVD Sale has been extended until Thursday at noon at ROHWrestling.com. This sale will also be in effect at both live events this weekend in Philadelphia. For complete details click here: ROH Wrestling .

May 26th: Ring of Honor is happy to announce that the ROH World Title match on June 13th between Jerry Lynn and Austin Aries will have two special guests in the ringside area. Former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness has requested that President Cary Silkin allow him to sit ringside and watch the match. This will be the first defense by Jerry Lynn since Houston that Nigel will see, and he reportedly “wants the best seat in the house to watch the man that dethroned him”. Silkin hesitated in granting the request, not knowing what intentions McGuinness may have, and consulted Ambassador Ric Flair on the matter. As a result of those conversations, ROH President Cary Silkin has appointed Ambassador “Nature Boy” Ric Flair as the special guest referee for the contest. Flair and McGuinness had some choice words for each other back at “Stylin’ and Profilin’”, and Silkin feels confident that Flair can neutralize anything that Nigel may have up his sleeve.
    Storm vs Hero = great
Steenerico vs Wolves in a Submission match = great
Nigel vs Claudio = great? Is Nigel already fully recovered?
Embassy vs Cabana streetfight = eh, not so much. Not too bothered about it at all. I'm wondering when Cabana is going to get some real competition in his return.
