Wrestling DVD Network is reporting that WWE will be including the following matches on the DVD release of HBO's Andre the Giant documentary this May:

    Handicap Match
Andre the Giant vs. Jose Estrada & Tony Russo
    All-Star Wrestling • August 30, 1978

Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan
    Showdown at Shea • August 9, 1980

    Steel Cage Match
Andre the Giant vs. Big John Studd
    Philadelphia, PA • September 24, 1983

    $15,000 Body Slam Match
Andre the Giant vs. Big John Studd
    WrestleMania • March 31, 1985

    WWE & NFL Battle Royal
    WrestleMania 2 • April 7, 1986

    WWE Championship Match
Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant
    WrestleMania III • March 29, 1987

    WWE Championship Match
Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant
    The Main Event • February 5, 1988
Pretty cool that some matches are included.

The Andre DVD is one of those rare occasions where I'm looking forward to the documentary more than the matches (the other ones being True Story of WrestleMania and Bret vs Shawn). The only two matches I don't already own are the handicapped match (probably just a squash) and the Steel Cage Match (which sounds kinda good). I've been a fan of Andre for as long as I've been a wrestling fan. I hate that most of the matches he's known for are from the later years of his career when he was not in as good of shape. If he was still alive he'd be #1 on my list of wrestlers I want to meet.

Keep in mind it's not an official WWE release. The matches are purely bonus and frankly, I'm surprised that there's as many as there are. After all of these years, I don't know why we never got a proper Andre WWE DVD.

The death of WWE DVDs is officially approaching. Starting in 2020, the only DVDs that the WWE will now releasing will be for PPVs. DVDs for superstars or specific themes are now finished. The final non-PPV DVD expected to be released will be WWE 24: The Best of 2019. It's pretty appropriate since superstar based DVDs first came out twenty years ago in 1999.

Honestly surprised it's taken this long. Especially since, and I could be wrong, they don't really make documentaries for the superstar specific ones it's usually all match compilations and that's all easy enough to find on the network.

Seems you're right. From what I can tell by going through match listings, the last proper documentary the WWE released on DVD, not counting the Andre DVD since that was an HBO special, was for The Kevin Owens Story back in mid 2017. Sometimes they have the wrestler sit down to talk briefly in between matches, but proper documentaries have been dead for ages.

It's sad. WWE dvds were a huge part of my fandom for over 10 years.
